Joe Wilson lets slip a skosh more of his nationally famous stoopid-i-tee. Via TPM:

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) says President Obama has endangered American lives by not doing more to alleviate the nation's short supply of H1N1 vaccine.

Except earlier this year, Wilson, along with 170 of his Republican cohorts in the House voted against the Supplemental Appropriations Bill ( H.R. 2346, which included the investment of $2 billion to assist the government in combating the H1N1 outbreak and to allow for further pandemic flu preparedness and response capacity.

From the article by the utterly whackadoo CNSNews:

[Old Yeller] says President Obama should "be held responsible" for the government's lack of preparedness in addressing the swine flu epidemic. Wilson said this was one crisis Obama could not blame on any other administration.

Wilson, who gained notoriety for shouting "You lie!" at Obama during the president's speech on the House floor on Sept. 9, was asked by CNSNews.com whether Obama should continue with plans to donate 10 percent of the country's H1N1 vaccine supply to foreign countries when it is well short of the 150 million doses it needs to cover at-risk Americans.

Wilson responded that not only should Obama halt any plans to donate portions of America's vaccine supply, he should also be held accountable for the government's lack of preparedness.

{spittle}...and seal the borderz to all furenerz!!!!!eleventy!!!{/spittle}

Meanwhile, back in the reality continuum, President Obama has declared the H1N1 flu a national emergency.

President Obama has declared H1N1 swine flu a national emergency, clearing the way for his health chief to give hospitals wider leeway in how they handle a possible surge of new patients, administration officials said Saturday.

The president granted Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius the power to lift some federal regulations for medical providers, including allowing hospitals to set up off-site facilities to increase the number of available beds and protect patients who are not infected.

Granted, there is a very real shortage of the H1N1 vaccine (blamed largely on stumbling blocks faced by manufacturers).  Even so, many think the POTUS is doing as well as can be expected:

The administration's response has generally received high marks from public health experts and medical observers. Harvey V. Fineberg, president of the National Academy of Science's Institute of Medicine, said: "I think they've been fairly candid. They've always qualified their statements and made no excessive promises."

But remaining unsatisfied are some other medical experts and politicians whose constituents have been unable to get the vaccine.

In a related story irony fresh from the real world, Old Yeller's wife has contracted the Swine Flu.

Rep. Joe Wilson's wife Roxanne has been diagnosed with swine flu, the congressman's office confirmed to CNN on Thursday.

The South Carolina Republican who gained instant notoriety in September for shouting "You lie!" at the president told The Hill newspaper on Thursday that he plans to keep his distance from his wife when he returns home this weekend.

Figures, no?

Know anyone with H1N1? (2.00 / 4)
If so, wish them a speedy recovery for me.  My brother and his fiance are both down with it.  I'm told it's beyond unpleasant.

The South Carolina Republican ... told The Hill newspaper on Thursday that he plans to keep his distance from his wife when he returns home this weekend.

Why does the notion of a SC Republican keeping his distance from his wife make me think of Argentina?!?

Fogiv, hope your brother ahd his fiance feel better soon.

He's a jackass. (2.00 / 4)
Why can't I find a three-second clip of Obama's Kanye comment?  That'd be endlessly useful.

Thanks for reminding me of that video. (2.00 / 3)
The look on the president's face right after he says "jackass" is priceless.
