Anybody Up Around Here?

Good morning.

Yours truly here is hopelessly a night owl.
Many reasons for why that's developed over the years but it's just who I am .

This is a weird topic for my first ever diary here at the Moose.
As I was sitting at the desk I began to wonder just how many meese/meeses? are night owls too.

And more importantly are any of you interested in an open thread, late night hang out, sort of thingy? We tried one for awhile over at the orange, "WAYS-Why Aren't You Sleeping?" When I say we it ended up being me, jlms_qkw and Frugal Granny most nights with few pop-ins.

Maybe a late-late version of overnight news. Like a "while you were sleeping thing" we could all contribute to so that those early risers have a point of reference to catch up over their morning brew and say hey to us who were creeping 'round making tracks while everyone else was sleeping.

And then there are our friends across the pond. They're up and about around by now. Would some fresh stuff to hold you folks over until morning when Moose Check-In and F-Bomb appears be of interest?

And I am so happy I finally got up the nerve to post something here (2.00 / 29)
no matter how silly.

Not silly at all. I may be one who drops off to sleep about 11 pm (2.00 / 11)
but it's a great idea to have a place to go for those of you who are awake.  And welcome!

I'm confirmed night owl too. (2.00 / 19)
I'm trying to get myself to go to bed at 2am Eastern, but got off track with worrying about GMB02 and commonmass.

Lovely to see you here.

Another night owl? (2.00 / 20)
Yay!

If you're wondering whether the Moose has folks with "sleep issues," you should read this old diary I wrote with Kysen's help. I think (though I could be mistaken) that we are still reigning King and Queen of sleep problems around here. But we're not the only ones up late by any means.

Hm, well, I sleep a lot more nowadays than I did when I wrote that diary. Did a sleep study finally, and apparently I have some... er, neurological problems. Heh. But I'm still around at night a lot!

I'd love a nightly open thread, whatever the name!

Come to me in my dreams, and then
By day I shall be well again!

The hopeless longing of the day.

I read your old diary, very informative. (2.00 / 16)
I have several issues besides sleep that keep me up too. I occasionally use meds but mostly rely on physical changes and adapting to them.

King of the Moosely Night Owls checking in... (2.00 / 22)
I am usually up into the wee hours. I see that Ricki posted a link to her Insomnia diary...and nothing much has changed for me since it was written. I do sleep a BIT more now in my older years than in my younger (a couple/few hours more when spread over a week or so)...but, yah, chronic night owl here.

Peter and I have chatted off and on for years in the wee morning hours. He because of location, me because of not yet having hit the sack. So, I know that he is oft time lurking about the intertubes when most Americans are still counting sheep.

I think a Late Night Open Thread would do fine, especially if used as a place to drop 'late night news' that most will not discover until roosters begin to crow in anticipation of the dawn.

I am usually up early in the morning, so I would love a (2.00 / 20)
night owl thread.

YES!! (2.00 / 19)
I have been trying to entice a few more blogging peeps here but they noticed (I tried to distract them but they are pretty smart!) that it is not very lively here at night. At the GOS you can almost always find an old fight open thread or a diary that has a few orange names popping up. I usually blog before I start work (when I have brain cells) ... some people blog after they work or late in the evening after kids are in bed. I go to bed before my daughter does, most nights.

I like the idea of a news open thread. When I wake up, I run through the news and to read what other moose have been reading would be an excellent way to start the morning.

Or, like yesterday, when I woke up at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep, I rolled out the morning check-in a little early and it scared everyone. ;)

Do it, LauraFall, do it!!

Words have meaning. Our words will reflect what is in our souls.

I will definitely participate in the late night open threads...please do it. (2.00 / 18)
Suffice to say i'm not a morning person..

Just wanted to say. (2.00 / 8)
Thanks for having my back : )

Why is a diary about sleeplessness making me tired? (2.00 / 15)
Seeing that I'm on CET (Central European Time), I can probably help populate a nightowl place on occasion.

Off to take a nap now...

I dozed off in the chair and that was it for my brain power for the night.

That's hilarious! Hahahaha, so call the the diary (2.00 / 4)
The "Remedy for Insomniacs" or something.

PS: Folks might want to know that commonmass's partner is doing a little better, thank the gods and goddesses, but he has a long way to go.

I am up each and every night. (2.00 / 15)
I am a third shifter. Even on my nights(days) off, I live the life. I would love a late night open thread.

Great first purple diary and brilliant idea!

Insomnia (2.00 / 12)
I've written two poems about insomnia (although my type involves waking up really early, not going to bed really late):

Insomnia

and

Insomnia 2

Waking up early is hell (2.00 / 5)
I know I'm ill - or really anxious - that's my pathology: heart beating startled wakefulness roun 4  am. Having had kids I've got lots of personal empirical on this: four hours of sleep from 4 to 8 is somehow much more refreshing than four hours from midnight to 4 a.m.

I like the idea. (2.00 / 9)
Usually in bed by midnight but I do have occasional sleepless nights where I get tired of reading in bed and feel like there's nothing else to do. Would be fun to be able to connect with other folks who are up late!

Many of us actually started blogging together in late (late)... (2.00 / 11)
... diaries over at MyDD. The "Late Night Crew" in the hizzhouse.

As you can tell we went all in with our nickname in the creativity department.

I'm on call twice (or thrice a week) so I'll mos def pop in with random shit.

Count me in.

I think it's a great idea!! (2.00 / 11)

i'm a night owl (2.00 / 8)
rarely in bed before 1:00 am most of the time, and even then i have to drag myself there.  it's not that i can't sleep (though that is sometimes the case), but usually that i just prefer not to.  if sleep weren't required, i'd avoid it almost entirely.
