Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. Good Wednesday morning, Moosekind! It’s a dull, foggy day in Ashburn. Right now it’s about 61 F., and They Say it’ll go up to 75 F. Rain is predicted for the morning but, as usual, I’ll believe it when I see it.
I need to grab a shower and work out before my 10:30 appointment with the costumer. She said my black trousers were too short. Lawks, I never noticed! My team was up for the rehearsal yesterday with my colleague taking my role, and they mostly did well.
Not much to say except that I hate pollen. I keep coughing. I think that’s the reason. Hope I can get everything done before my meeting this morning at 10:30. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
It’s 58 heading for 74 and sticky (58% humidity). Also overcast which may or may not go away by noon. Or even sooner. A ray of sunshine just slipped through a hole in the cloud cover. Yesterday we generated 18.19 KWHs and 278.26 is the m-t-d with 9 production days left in April.
Saw the moon again last night. Her smile is bigger and her light is now strong enough to actually shine into my bedroom across the foot of my bed once I turned the lights out. Moon energy to keep us going. As going we must. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 51 and cloudy in Bellingham today. I thought I could put my dirty gardening clothes in the laundry but I’ve got one more ivy session to do. Bri and her helper have finally got what had become a green wall cut down to human size so they are done. I want to make the slope above the lower patio look better so the remaining ivy branches that keeps the soil on the slope stable need some attention. I can sit on a log and some rocks and reach most of what needs to be trimmed and sorted so I’ll do that and Ron will have to get what I can’t reach. Apparently gardening while 80ish means sitting in the dirt…..no standing and bending allowed! Best wishes to all.
Good afternoon, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 86 or 91 and sunny. Got my walk in, got a few things done this morning and am calling it a day.
Congratulations to Virginians for showing up and nullifying the putrid orange dotard’s plan to ratfk the midterms by redistricting the red states. Democrats, thank goodness, are not rolling over.
See all y’all later!
Thursday Meese 42 here in Kingston going up to 68.
My goddaughter posted this GA weather:
Yikes! Climate collapse. Not fun. Holding everybody in The Light.
I was surprised to see all the literal hot spots in the south and especially Florida. I always think of the south as damp. I hope your goddaughter stays safe!
Good morning. I hate in-office days. I’m here, upright, done my walk. Just got to keep it together till 5.
It’s 65 heading for 78 and overcast. We may or may not get sun later this afternoon. Yesterday we generated 11.17 KWHs and with the m-t-d at 289.43 we might reach 300 today. IF we get the sun this afternoon. Early afternoon.
We did have some clear weather after dark and into the early morning. I saw the moon smiling – more of a grin at this point – at us during the numerous occasions I was up through the night. A big groggy this morning. (The coffee sitting beside me might help – if I’d remember to drink it. LOL.) Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Thursday morning, Meese! A beautifully sunny day is unfolding outside. The trees everywhere are almost fully out and spreading pollen everywhere. (Guess who coughed all night long.) Saw the Moon and Venus last night coming out of rehearsal, which made me very happy.
Besides the fact that today is St. George’s Day as well as Shakespeare’s birthday, it’s the day we open with “Into the Woods”! It’s a matinee. We have to be there at 1:45 p.m. for vocal warmups. I’ll be so glad when it’s all over and I can eat dinner at a fairly normal time and get to bed on time. I find myself missing Dearly and the life we used to live in our house. Yes, it was a bit isolated (he liked his family and few others), but it was peaceful and quite stress-free. I miss the food I used to make that he loved. Well, I’d better get used to it, because I expect to be single the rest of my life. Why am I unloading all this on you Meese when it’s such a beautiful warm day outside? I need to get to the gym El Fasto.
An additional source of happiness besides seeing the Moon and looking at the beautiful day is the fact that I found two of Bfitz’s lemon muffins sitting jauntily in the fridge in their plastic Tupperware box. Nuked them and they were so delicious and fragrant even after a week (or however long it’s been) that I couldn’t believe it! Wish I had the size of pan bfitz uses. I found something called a chicken roasting pan (9 x 9 with a lid), so I hope it will do. It’s too boring and wasteful making individual muffins and peeling the paper off, cutting slices of the bread will be much better.
Need to go to the gym before I gain any more weight. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
{{{Diana}}} memories are always going to wander through. Some very bittersweet because they are just memories. You are dealing with things very well. Still making your way through all the “1st time w/o” things.
I’m glad the muffins were still good. That’s definitely a “keeper” recipe. And I frequently use a cake pan and cut them into squares if not using a loaf pan and cutting them into slices. I certainly/definitely can’t handle dealing with individual muffin cups. Healing Energy. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Diana – here’s an Anne Louise Avery post from 2021 you might (probably did) enjoy celebrating Shakespeare’s birthday.

What a lovely story, bfitz! Thank you. The cake sounds delicious but way too much trouble! I’ll continue to get his cakes made by by the bakery. :)
Definitely way too much trouble. But it certain does sound delicious.
Good afternoon, meeses! Thursday …
It is 85 with sun off and on. I saw the moon yesterday afternoon over the mountains but today it has been too cloudy. I had a busy day of errands and got them all done in a nice circle which is how I plan my driving errands. Tomorrow I hope to get in for a haircut but I have a few things to do first and I am not sure how long they will take. We’ll see how it looks tomorrow morning.
See all y’all later!
good Friday morning Meese. 52 here in Kingston going up to 60

I can’t say I had a terrible night’s sleep because that would imply sleeping. I woke up every hour. Ugh. I’m at work, gonna try to stay all day.Did walk my mile and a half.

It’s 59 heading for 72 and cloudy. Yesterday we generated 6.92 KWHs and the m-t-d is 296.35 with 7 production days left in April. Sigh.
Too cloudy to see the moon but at least we got 2″ of rain between 2 & 4:30 am. Email checked on my brother yesterday. He and the boys aren’t near the northern FL wildfires but he says the droughts killing the farming in the area. He’s no longer doing any farming himself but his friends/neighbors haven’t been able to plant yet and several of them are looking at “downsizing” their herds. That’s selling off livestock for whatever they can get for it because it’s too expensive to feed them. These are folks who’ve been farming or running cattle in the area for generations. They’re just hoping to hang on to a core herd to rebuild from when the rain comes again. Climate collapse has been hitting the farmers for almost a decade now. It’s just getting worse. Most folks in the U.S. don’t know this because we import food so it’s in the grocery stores. Where a lot of them think it’s magically made in the back room.
Definitely dark enough to make one think it’s earlier than it is. Hope it clears off or at least thins out later. I like to have daylight in the day time. Meanwhile I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Friday morning, Moosekind! Wurra the day. It’s 70 F. in Ashburn and partly sunny, with rain expected around 3 p.m. Considering that our projected rainfall is .2 inches, I refuse to get excited.
Well, we opened yesterday, to a very good house (some empty seats but not many), and the audience seemed to like. There were some laughs, especially when Rapunzel’s long yellow braid was tossed on the stage and Henrietta, the crocheted colorful stuffd chicken sitting on a radio-controlled truck, scooted across the stage, trailing a golden egg.
I had an unfortunate accident yesterday. Having finished my half-hour row, I was just readying the treadmill (not my usual machine), when I stepped onto the tread, which was set at .5 mph (I thought), but it wasn’t! It was going six miles an hour! I fell and started screaming. I was sure my head had come off. The treadmill belt threw me on to the carpet. Luckily the guy on the next machine knew what to do, ran to get help, and a lady held my hand. The techs were summoned. They asked me who was in the White House and I told them Mango Mussolini. The guy snorted. The woman asked me what day it was. “Thursday, April 23rd,” I said. “Shakespeare’s birthday and also St. George’s Day.” “You trying to impress me?” she asked. “Yes,” I said cheerfully.
They took my vitals, said my blood pressure was 160 over 50, and wanted me to see the doctor. I was feeling quite stoopid but the guy on the next machine said the same thing had happened to him on that machine. They ought to fix the damn thing. I refused to see the doctor. Went home, had a nice cup of tea (pretty much cures everything), took a couple of Tylenol, and went to the theatre. Luckily I wasn’t on, yesterday. I’m on today. After dinner I went to the Scholars’ Variety Show. Our high-school servers have to demonstrate some sort of talent as well as getting good grades to qualify for a scholarship. The show was bizarre.
Anyway, had a wonderful 9-hour sleep last night, cooked and consumed a large unseemly breakfast, and am about to take a shower and study my lines. I’m far more concerned about my allergic-reaction coughing than the minor abrasions, which I treated with Neosporin and bandages. Plan to take some liquid Dayquil before I go on to see if that helps the cough.
Nora’s coming for dinner tonight but has to leave early. That’s OK, I want to go to bed early. I’ll shut up now.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and an end to the war!
{{{Diana+++ Yikes! on the treadmill fall. (That’s one of the reasons I have a non-electric treadmill – it can’t go any faster than I do.) Lots of Healing Energy. & good luck/break a leg (metaphorically) on the show today. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
That was supposed to be {{{Diana}}} My fingers don’t seem to know where they’re supposed to be today.
Good morning, 53 and sunny in Bellingham today. I have pushed my gardening limits but fortunately I’m recovering and the big pruning tasks are done, whew! We’re having a family lunch on Sunday to celebrate our son’s and Ryan’s April birthdays so if the weather cooperates the patios are ready for fun. I’ve got a few flowers to arrange today, a dessert to bake tomorrow, some food prep for lunch, but most importantly to be rested and ready. Best wishes to all.
Good night, meeses! Friday has disappeared …
I had several crises, an unplanned errand and a total lack of energy. I shall get a good night’s sleep and see all y’all tomorrow!

Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 61 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 82. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. The overnight lows are very refreshing this time of year; we are about a month away from when it does not get below 80 overnight. Pleasant temperatures for the next week with the possibility of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
I was laughing at the headlines saying that Marco Rubio, ostensibly Secretary of State, is nowhere to be seen in the Iran “peace talks” but is spending his time working in DC on national security issues. HAHAHAHAHA! He simply does not want to become the face for failure when the Iran clusterf*k turns into a quagmire that depletes weapon stockpiles, empties the US Treasury, and further tarnishes America’s global reputation. He and JD Vance will be going head to head in the 2028 Republican presidential primary and everything he does now is going to be passed through the lens of looking presidential and not a losing loser trying to get Iran to “forget” that the US government attacked their country, killed their leader and threatened them with nuclear annihilation. As if.
The WNBA season starts today with a full slate of preseason games over the weekend. Only one will be on national TV, the Fever v the Liberty. Every single Indiana Fever game will be on national TV this season because their team has a popular white player who doesn’t even have to play or play well to draw ratings. I guess it is good for the sport built by black women to have high ratings and money making it possible for multi-million dollar salaries but I can’t help but be sad that the money feels a bit tainted. In any event, I don’t have a team yet – I am auditioning several – but I will certainly root for the Liberty tonight. I am curious to see how they use Satou Sabally with their current players. I guess Stewie won’t play right away so they will need frontcourt minutes.
I have many things to do today after a fragmented week with crises and schedule changes and a lot of unnecessary drama. I am going to focus on “must be done” and try to ignore the shiny baubles of what I want to do.
See all y’all later!
Will be watching the WNBA pre-season games today
Jan I just saw this:
“Aliyah Boston & Lexie Hull RULED OUT For Fever’s First Pre Season Game”
It didn’t appear to slow the Fever down! They seemed to be playing the pre-season game as if it were a championship rather than looking at all the players and matchups.
Good morning. Saturday exercise & errands. Another night of very little sleep. Sigh.
