Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 61 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 75. Mostly sunny skies with a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Good morning. Did a lot yesterday: groceries, housework, cooking. More cooking this afternoon, I hate it when I run out of both lunch & dinner the same weekend. Not wearing a Star Wars t-shirt to church today, but I will watch one of the movies this afternoon. (May 4th is a play on the “may the Force be with you” saying from SW)
Good Sunday morning, Moosekind, and May the Fourth be with you! We finally did receive some rain—eight hours later than forecast but wot the bloomin’ ‘ell, rain is rain, ain’t it? Anyway, I saw some lightning when I arrived home from our last performance. However, there were no tornadoes, 65-mile-an-hour winds, hail, or flooding. These weather people get so excited with the thought of something happening in their dull lives that they start predicting anything short of alien spaceship landings—pathetic, really.
We did not have a full house last night, but some of the audience were there for the second or THIRD time! How about that? I can only hope our autumn play, “The Art of Murder” does as well.
It’s been raining off and on all morning, which suits me just fine. It’s 65 F. at the moment, not going to get much higher. I had the Night from Hell last night, so a slow day of reading my writers’ assignments and working on my Reader Theatre play will suit me just fine. Dinner will be a no-brainer, spaghetti and salad since I’m too tired to go around the corner to the restaurant.
So all the “money” Melon “saved” will be spent on a military parade for the Felon, eh? I shan’t watch. I hope there is a Whoopee cushion contingent present, who will make noises when the parade passes through the streets.
That’s enough from me, Moosekind! Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
The military parade to honor Dear Leader is gross on so many levels. I hope that people do show up to protest it by turning their backs on it holding up their middle fingers rather than carrying signs. The Hitler wannabe and his brownshirts have seen enough signs and probably enjoy them, it is time to show them our backs and our disdain. The Whoopie cushions are a great idea! I hope someone organizes that!
Good morning Meese.

It’s 53 heading for 70 and sunny at the moment. Yesterday we generated 18.14 KWHs and the m-t-d at 52.3 is actually on track. We shall see what today brings.
I’ve done my Sunday chores, back & hands complaining, of course. Tentatively I’ve got a visit from a friend today. She emailed me while I was offline during the day, running errands and baking cookies, about getting frozen yogurt in the afternoon but by the time I emailed back she said maybe coffee “tomorrow” (as in today) would be better. I haven’t heard from her yet this morning so I’m having my regular breakfast. One thing about the boosting, it’s flexible. I can take a break any time anybody shows up. I’d best get to it before anybody does however. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning. Skipped my walk this morning. In the office, straightening up because we may have visitors (no one ever comes up to the top floor but it’s not impossible so we have to straighten up). Anyway, happy Monday.
Good morning, meeses! Monday …
It is 55 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 64. Mostly cloudy skies with a chance of rain. It has been raining off and on for about the past 2 hours and it looks like that will continue for a while then clear and then pick up again mid-afternoon. The rain is much needed and will make everyone except those who have to drive in the downpours happy!
I was able to watch the first weekend of WNBA “action” (it is preseason and not the greatest basketball, yet) and my new League Pass app does cast video streams to my TV as I hoped it would. Now I just have to see if it includes the two teams I will be following this year, the Phoenix Mercury and the Golden State Valkyries. I will find that out tomorrow as both teams will be playing at the same time.
I got a lot done this weekend and finished up one project this morning. I have one more “weekend” project to complete and then I can take it easy for a couple of days. I am working way too hard and I am looking forward to finishing a long running project this month. I will miss the money but not miss the demands on my semi-retired life. If the Melon Husk and his dotard Felonious pal cancel my Social Security, I will pack up a sleeping bag and sleep at the local Tesla dealership (and then in jail, I assume!) or on the front steps of my Grand Old Party of Death congressman’s Tucson office until he is voted out and a new Congress – and president – restores it.
See all y’all later!
I’m rooting for my NY Liberty. Worrying about all the women going down with torn ACL’s – and we aren’t even in the main season yet
It seems like there are a rash of ACL injuries but it is probably just that the sport is getting more attention and they are reported. It is a “design flaw” in women’s hip and leg structure that makes them more susceptible to ACL injuries than men are. The way we land after we jump puts more pressure on the knees. I am not sure how some of these women go through rehab for multiple injuries – it must be a true love of the sport.
It will be interesting to watch the Liberty this year. I wonder if Stewie will call it quits after the season?
There is some new research – which I need to read, linking some of this to menstrual cycles. The problem is that research on the health of women in sports is way behind research for men.
Am writing about WNBA/A’ja Wilson/ Malia Obama today for Black Kos
I will watch for it, please post the Bluesky link! A’Ja Wilson is an amazing basketball player. I don’t know much about her as a person.
Happy Cinco de Mayo, Moosekind! ‘Tis a grey and gloomy Monday because it may rain. This will be our story all week long. The current temp. is 66 F., going up to the dear Goddess knows what, haven’t bothered to look. The GOOD news is that the trees in the woods across the way are fully dressed and looking very green.
Yesterday I had no energy after an awful night, so spent most of the day sleeping. Toward evening I revived enough to print out my writers’ short stories and to draft my Reader Theater play. Today I’ll work on those two projects and begin drafting interview questions. I have to conduct two interviews and then write articles about them for our community quarterly newsletter.
There’s a candidate forum at 1:30 today for the Democratic candidates for Attorney General. We’re having a Dem. primary on June 17. LOVED the Washington Poop headline in today’s Metro section—“Republicans in Disarray.” Whoo-hoo, Lulu!
The butler brought me Early Morning Tea so I drank it while sending healing white light and rosy clouds of love to all who are ill. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
It’s 59 heading for 74 and sunny at the moment. Rain and cooler weather is supposed to move in tomorrow. Yesterday we generated 21.2 KWHs and the m-t-d at 73.59 is nicely on track.
I’m going to have to do (at least) one more laundry in the house to dry in front of a fire. The grass is wet as early as I’d have to hang laundry outside for it to dry before dark. So it’s a good thing the highs are supposed to be/going to be below 70 for the next few days. Freddie (the black cat) is getting antsy. The only times he “gets” to go outside is when he slips out while I’m juggling a basket of wet laundry out the backdoor. I’m just as happy to have a bit longer before he manages to go outside. The neighbor cats are territorial and unfortunately consider my yard part of their territory.
I had a lovely visit with my friend yesterday morning and a lovely visit with my son yesterday afternoon. A nice start to the week. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{HUGS}}}
Will be rainy here all week- have been watching all the videos of awful flooding in Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico
Good morning, 49 and sunny today. We finished the patio shuffle yesterday so I’m weary but feeling grateful for family…..many hands made the move happen. Ron and I had a taco dinner prepared once the work was done we could just relax and have a Sunday supper together. I was pleased to see the new arrangements made the spaces more comfortable to use. We’ll finish leveling and paving the barbeque area later but for now the big garden projects are done and that feels like an accomplishment. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. Stormy day ahead, glad I won’t be driving in that. Will set some plants out to get rain water. Happy Tuesday to all!
Tuesday Meese. Raining here in Kingston. Flooding continues in PR
Puerto Rico
I hope that the voters in Puerto Rico see that their MAGAt governor has no special powers to get Washington Republicans to care about their plight. :(
Some are – especially younger folks!
Good morning, meeses! Tuesday …
It is 52 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 68. It started raining here at about 3am and is expected to stay cloudy and rainy until noon when the forecast calls for the sun to make an appearance. I won’t take my walk until this afternoon.
I have mostly just been following local news which has a better chance of having a favorable outcome than the national news which is controlled by deadenders in the Confederate States of America and stupid people who don’t understand economics – and ones who do understand and are working on emptying the assets of the US Treasury into their own pockets. Anyway, in Tucson an undocumented man who has been here for the past 15 years, has a job and no criminal record, was picked up by ICE at a local hospital when he brought his cousin there for emergency medical care. The people running the CATHOLIC hospital asked him a lot of questions and someone there reported him to ICE. Nice “caring for the sick”, Catholic haters. The Arizona state legislature, run by the Grand Old Death Squad Republican Party were delighted to see that and immediately passed a bill to require that all hospitals ask anyone presenting themselves for medical care and anyone with them about their legal status. The bill will be vetoed by our Democratic governor but the damage is done, people will be scared. What could possibly go wrong if sick or injured people no longer feel safe to get medical care? Goddess help us.
I got a few things done this morning and feel in control of my schedule for today. The college softball tournaments start tomorrow and I have two teams I am following there. Tonight there will be three WNBA preseason games on TV and the MLB team I watch is playing so there will be a lot of sports viewing to keep me entertained.
See all y’all later!
Good Tuesday morning, Meese! It’s 65 F. already in Ashburn at 10 a.m., and we’ll have a high of 77 F. A pale blue sky is trying to break through white clouds, hope it succeeds.
Last night we DID have a thunderstorm, lightning, the lot! It rained in a most satisfactory manner. We might actually make a dent in that 5-inch rainfall deficit since the beginning of the year.
Finished writing my 10-minute Reader Theatre play, so that’s done. Beginning to think about the two interviews I have to conduct and write up. In other news, the Health section today said just two 30-minute weight lifting sessions a week is enough to keep the heebie-jeebies away. I might try it. Problem is, weight lifting is SO BORING.
Anyway, need to run to the barbershop, the grocer’s, and the box office next door at 1:30. Want to get a ticket to the Ashby Rocks! concert.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
It’s 61 heading for 70 and sunny at the moment but clouds are starting to move in & we’re supposed to get rain this afternoon. Yesterday we generated 19.24 KWHs and the m-t-d at 92.8 is nicely on track. We’ll see what today brings.
The last several nights I’ve caught a glimpse of the moon high and just barely far enough west for me to see Her as I turn out my lights for bed. But the moonlight has shone in a band that’s moved from floor, across the foot of my bed, to eastern wall in my bedroom over the course off the night and I’ve noted the progress in my multiple wakings.
Over the course of the next few months Fayetteville is being upgraded to “smart” electric meters. I talked to a SWEPCO rep to make sure that wasn’t going to mess with my PV system. Nope. Not a problem. The current meters allow the SWEPCO meter “readers” to just drive by in their truck and get the reading, not have to go door-to-door/meter-to-meter and manually get it like in my youth. The “smart” meter sends the data directly to the main computer so no more driving around to get a local signal. That’s good as far as use of fuel is concerned. Bad as far as jobs are concerned. As for all the stuff a “smart” meter is supposed to do in/around the house the joke’s on them. You have to have “smart” appliances before a “smart” meter can do anything with them. 😁
Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 49 and sunny outside my windows today. I see the dentist this afternoon and if all goes well I’ll finally have a new tooth, yay! I really like the new patio arrangements so now I can focus on planting a few flowers and getting the electrical components in place. Best wishes to all.
Wednesday Meese. We have a flood warning here in the area (not near my house) and rain for the rest of the week.
Puerto Rico
Good morning. Much weather drama yesterday, thunder storms & flood warnings. Not enough to break the drought, but we’ll take any rain we can get. I remembered to ask to log off early today to go exercise, yay.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 55 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 77. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw my stars over the mountains this morning as clear as could be. The waxing gibbous moon will be rising in the east at around 3 this afternoon so I should see her over the mountains around 4pm and she will surely still be in the sky after the sun goes down. I have not seen her in a while because she and I had different sleep schedules!
I think that the Felonious Dotard’s handlers are using AI to write his Executive Odors in a way that maximizes ticking off the most people while pleasing his base (which is not anywhere near a majority). Actually, I suspect he hands that job over to Stephen Miller who does not need AI to be the most hateful person in the world. By the way, watching the Dance of the Republican Senators pretending to give a rats ass about Medicaid, is nauseating. No, Josh Freaking Hawley is not going to “save Medicaid”, he is going to make sure the cameras find him and then in the end fold like a cheap suit. Bastids.
I have some errands to run later this morning so I need to wrap up a few things so I can log off my computer.
See all y’all later!
