Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good morning. Didn’t do much yesterday, so today I’m taking an early lunch and going to kickboxing. Still looking at the pictures from the Rubin observatory, they are amazing.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 73 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 97. Sunny skies are in the forecast. Yesterday the rain went east of us, coming up from Mexico over the southeast corner of the state and into New Mexico. The next rain chance appears to be next Tuesday but I cannot imagine what model they are using to “forecast” that!
Interesting results from New York City on the mayors race. The Democratic socialist beat Andrew Cuomo but Cuomo said he will probably run in the general election. I guess he just wanted to see if Democrats still had any positive feelings for him. Sounds like NO. New York City has had quite a few Republican and Republican Lite Democrats as mayors so that is not surprising that he would just run as a random guy. I would think a lot of the voters just want to have someone who isn’t an active, indicted or convicted criminal.
I am working my way through a stack of things that need to be done or scheduled to be done by the end of June. I am trying to kick a bunch of projects down the road to the 3rd week of July so that I can take a break from the daily barrage. This morning I will work on accounting projects and then decide if I am ready to set up my new phone.
See all y’all later!
It’s 77 heading for 91/heat index 99 (but will probably go over 100 as it has the last 2 days) and sunny at the moment. The forecasted afternoon rain didn’t happen yesterday but the clouds showed up. We generated 19.42 KWHs and the m-t-d at 393.76 is on track to get over 500. IF we continue the current pattern.
Groggy and can’t think of much. Hopefully I can boost adequately on autopilot because that’s what I’ll be doing. Fortunately I’m rather good at doing things on autopilot. I don’t remember what I’ve done, but it gets done. LOL. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good afternoon, 58 and cloudy in Bellingham today. I’ve had a quiet morning and will be in the garden with Bri this afternoon. Erica and her family arrive Friday for a visit so we are getting the basics done and the rest of the family fun will happen with their help. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. Did my walk/run & now I’m in the office. We’re doing this month’s birthdays today, I got cookies from a fancy cookie place. Kinda makes up for having to be in the office.
It’s 75 heading for 91/heat index 98 and sunny. At the moment. Yesterday we generated 20.43 KWHs and the m-t-d at 414.16 gained a little more. But is still 20 KWHs less than what we’d generated last June at this point – when the inverter shut down and we didn’t have any generation at all for the rest of the month/following 8 weeks.
The world is a mess. Nothing I can do but what I’m doing. And I’d best get to doing that. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Thursday Meese. It’s finally cooled off here in Kingston.

Good morning, meeses! Thursday …
It is 73 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 97. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The thin waxing crescent will rise today at 6:22am in the ENE – I will look for her as she clears the mountains but she will probably be too thin to see as it will be full daylight by then. I have a new cell phone with a fancier camera and I am anxious to see how it does lighted objects. I may be able to catch a glimpse this evening as she will be setting at 9:14pm in the WNW. The WNW has buildings so it will be tricky to have it dark enough to see her before she disappears behind the buildings.
The Republicans in their Big Pile of Trumpian Excrement Bill have modified the list of western wilderness areas that will not be sold to billionaire tech bros to destroy just to own the libs and removed some Tucson sites – Mt. Lemmon, Sabino Canyon and Madero Canyon. That they were even thinking of selling Mt. Lemmon was horrifying and deserving of every bit of contempt that can be heaped on them. Bastids.
I was reading an article about the so-called obliteration of Iran’s nuclear capability and the hastily put together “truce” to end the war. The author suggested that it is the result of the narcissistic injury tRump suffers by Barack Obama’s success in all the things he is a failure in. The latest is the Nobel Peace Prize. So he set up a war, “ended” the war with a truce that lasted 10 minutes and wants the prize, now:
I am still working on setting up my phone (there are a lot of little details that do not transfer) and finished up on accounting projects that need to be completed before the weekend.
See all y’all later!
Good morning, 57 and mostly cloudy. I should be outside watering the garden and collecting greens for the flowers for Emma and Ava’s graduation party on Sat. I’ll get there but for now I’m drinking tea, playing solitaire, and wishing you know who were obliterated……grrrr! Best wishes to all as we find our way through another day.
Good morning. I skipped my walk, my knees were unhappy yesterday so I thought I’d give them a break. Anyway, in the office. Just have to keep it together until 5. I know the SCOTUS rulings will be horrifying, so I have happy music playing in my head.
The SCOTUS rulings have already been horrifying. I hope future generations – if we have them! – spit on the graves of those who allowed such damaged people to have power over us.
Good morning, meeses! Friday …
It is 75 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast. It will stay around the upper 90s low 100s for the next few days and then early next week there is rain predicted. I live in a desert so I am ready for the heat – it does not bother me too much because I can control my schedule (more or less) but I feel sorry for people who have to work outside.
I am not holding my breath that the Senate will respect the authority of the Senate Parliamentarian. A political party that turned their future over to a serial adulterer, convicted felon and malignant narcissist bent on destroying small d democracy in search of love and adulation suggests that they have no red line – as soon as tRump tells them he will find primary opponents, they will fold like cheap suits and fire the parliamentarian and essentially end the Senate filibuster. Goddess help us if they can enact any legislation with a simple majority in both houses of Congress and a simpleton’s signature.
I have to get my accounting work done and not let myself get distracted like I did yesterday. I think I will take my walk on the treadmill later in the afternoon rather than break now and lose my train of thought.
See all y’all later!
It’s 75 heading for 86/heat index 92 and sunny at the moment but clouds and maybe rain supposed to move in shortly. Sigh. Yesterday we generated 20 KWHs and the m-t-d at 434.24 gained some more. Obviously with 4 production days left in June we can reach over 500. Equally obviously we have to have sunny days to do it.
My friend is taking vacation time and spending the next 10 days at the family farm with her cat. This is good since the house hasn’t been occupied since the parents died even though one of her sibs is still running cattle on the property. (& feeding her cat while she’s here in town.) There’s family stuff dealing with the estate trust that takes all 4 sibs and they’re trying to get that done next week. I’ll have to go back to eating my own cooking for the next 10 days though. LOL.
I don’t expect anything but horrible from the news. Unfortunately I don’t expect to see the Dems standing up, debating, offering resolutions against any of the stuff the Rs or the Gestapo are doing, voting against anything and everything the Rs bring to the floor, and otherwise doing the damage control of slowing down the influx of evil either. So I’ll continue to ignore the news and boost the needs of folks who sure as heck won’t be getting it from the sources they should be getting it. Which I’d best be about. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Friday morning, Moosekind! It’s gray, 70 F., and drippy outside. When we woke up we could see it had been sprinkling during the night. It’s so cool, in fact, that I’m wearing a sweater vest over my 3/4-length shirt, and jeans and socks. “They” are predicting thunderstorms for tomorrow—AND our rainfall deficit for the year to date is less than an inch! How about that.
It’s been a tumultuous couple of days, what with Dearly coming home without his teeth (the eejits accidentally threw them away in the hospital); my horrifying trip trying to find the cardiologist’s office (MapQuest lied), and setting up the oxygen concentrator. A medical person from Kaiser visited yesterday and told Dearly he only needs to use it at night. We all have less oxygen at night, apparently.
The cardi prescribed two new medicines for me, which means that I’m now taking a total of 12 pills of various colors, shapes, and sizes. I oughtta string them around my neck so people can compliment my interesting-looking jewelry.
Dearly is euphoric to be home, and I’m euphoric to have someone to make the coffee! Just think, real coffee! Elder Son and Lacrosse-crazed Grandson came to dinner with us yesterday. We went to the Pub. Elder Son, who will be 55 next week and still isn’t taking a statin, is very worried about his health. He regarded his Aged Mum as living a healthful life, so how is it that I had this heart attack? He’s going to insist that his doctor conduct tests for this, that, and the other, to make sure he doesn’t have a heart attack.
I’m feeling quite well, although bitterly wishing I could still exercise. I have to see the nurse here this afternoon, so we can talk about my meds. The one thing I’ve noticed is that I seem to tire easily. There’s something called My Chart that doctors seem to force their patients to use nowadays. It feels like being nagged endlessly online by an abusive spouse—not that mine is anything like that!
Glad you’re keeping track of the Moon for us, Jan, because I certainly haven’t seen Her for weeks! Perhaps one of these days.
Dearly wants to go and do errands, so will just wish all at the Pond a good day.
{{{Diana}}} Healing Energy to you & Dearly. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
I’m so glad things are going well – if Dearly feels up to running errands, that’s a good sign.
Good morning Meese.
SCOTUS sucks.
So does Puerto Rico’s Republican Gov.

Good morning, 55 and cloudy outside my windows today. I should be doing flowers now but I’m weary, so I’ll sip my tea and rest a while longer. I wasn’t feeling very creative when I chose flowers yesterday so I hope I can make something interesting when I finally get started. Best wishes to all.
Saturday Meese. Raining again today – no longer in a heat wave thankfully.

It’s 78/heat index 80 and overcast at the moment. Widget says we’re heading for 84/heat index 90. We shall see. We had a little, very little, sunshine this morning before the clouds moved in. Widgets say cloudy and rainy all day. Well, I believe the cloudy part. Yesterday we generated 17 KWHs. The m-t-d at 451.64 is at least better than what we did last year at this point/the point the inverter died. With only 3 production days left in June if it doesn’t clear off, we’re not going to make 500. sigh.
Groggy. I think I slept OK last night but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Oh well. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everyone. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning. Weekend before a short work week — and only 1 day in the office. So I’m not cooking, will save that for next weekend. Going to kickboxing, though I have to do that carefully because my knees are just weird. Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day today.
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 88 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 100. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw the waxing moon last night to the WNW in the dusk and she is very thin. My new phone camera appears to have the capability of taking photos without turning moons into shmears so I will be experimenting with that this month. It will be a while before I will see her over the mountains which is my favorite shot.
Thank you, Bernie Freaking Sanders, for the Trump Supreme Court that continues to dismantle the Constitution and destroy families and businesses and the planet. I am SO glad you stuck to your “principles” to force a $15 an hour minimum wage as more important than the Supreme Court and civil rights and women’s rights and climate change and told your freaking supporters to not vote for Hillary Clinton. Bastid.
I have many things to do this weekend but I got the main thing done and now will sit in my easy chair and watch sporting events. My WNBA team won their 6th in a row but another one of their players was hurt and I need to find out how badly so I can worry about her. :)
See all y’all later!
