Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good afternoon, meeses! Tuesday that feels like a Friday …
It is 75 and overcast, expected high of 80. We are going to have a couple of days of clouds and maybe rain.
I have been obsessing about year end projects which I think I have organized plus I finally got my holiday cards in the mail. Now my feet are up and I am going to stay put for the next few days.
My Arizona Wildcats Womens Basketball lost their Big XII opener by one point. I have not had a chance to read about it but I am glad it was not a blowout. Now they go on the road for the first time as a team. I hope they didn’t make a mistake by not getting the travel yips out of their systems during pre-conference.
See all y’all later!!
Sorry the Wildcats lost Jan!
I finally had time to read about the game. It sounds like they dug themselves a huge hole in the second quarter with cold shooting and managed to claw back in the second half. What would have been the winning basket was launched in the waning seconds and missed. The coach does not want to settle for a moral victory (and she shouldn’t) but the team with its 144 NET ranking was playing Utah which has a 46 NET. There was a nice crowd there to support a team that is brand new, over 5500 for an afternoon game. In any event, the coach will have “lots of film” and, I hope, a team motivated by being that close.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday that will feel like a Saturday …
It is 57 degrees and raining in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 72. Cloudy skies and rain off and on expected most of the day. The rain is welcome, things are a bit dry right now.
I have managed to stay away from busy shopping places so far. I got errands run yesterday morning and was safely in place (in my easy chair) by noon. We are trying to figure out if we want to get carryout tomorrow or just eat what we have. For some odd reason, Chinese restaurants here are closed – in Wisconsin they were the go to place for Christmas Day meals. I think the Thai restaurant is open and we have not had it for a while so that may be a nice treat. Their mango sticky rice is particularly delightful.
Our rental house search continues. We have a “fallback” option, a place that will definitely be available when we will have to decide to move, that we will look at tomorrow. In the meantime, we are looking at other places closer to where we live now. We might have to choose different mountains to love! Tucson is surrounded by mountains: the Santa Catalina Mountains to the east, the Rincon Mountains to the ESE, the Tortolita Mountains to the north, the Tucson Mountains to the west and the Santa Rita Mountains, which we share with Mexico, to the south. There are places where you can see all of them and it is a magical feeling. In any event, we have mountain view options.
See all y’all later!
Good morning. Yesterday was stressful but my internet is back and I’m going to watch Christmas movies. Scrooged and black & white Miracle on 34th Street. I’ll look for the Christmas episodes of the Librarians, they were great and that was a fun series. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day.
It’s 66 heading for 76 and not exactly sunny but not exactly not either. Yesterday we generated 5 KWHs and the m-t-d at 138.6 lost a smidge but not enough to get us off track. We’ll have to generate at least 6 today to stay on track.
I missed a visit with my grandson and his girlfriend last night. They came by to drop off a copy of the family group photo she took Sunday night. I must have been in the bathroom or something because I didn’t hear them. They didn’t ring the bell because I’d certainly have heard that. So they left the photo by the front door and texted my son to let me know. Which he did. Oh well. And Natalia left for the farm last night because the family shifted their gathering to today instead of tomorrow.
Meanwhile I overslept for some reason or other and had best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, Moosekind! It’s beautifully clear and cold in Ashburn right now. I need to leave pretty soon to pick up my friend and bring her back here. There is a certain amount of housework that just isn’t going to get done.
We’re aiming to have the three o’clock buffet dinner today. M’Daughter and SIL are coming over for it as well. I’m so excited to see her! Lawks, I think it’s been a year or more.
Hoping to watch “A Christmas Story” tonight. Wishing a good day and Eve to all at the Pond!
Good morning, 40 and raining. My house is ready for Christmas fun so I’m enjoying a quiet moment with coffee and music. I have one more gift to bake and wrap then my list is done and this weary elf can relax. Erica and her family are staying home so We’ll call Sophie this evening to wish her happy birthday, 19 yrs old now! Best wishes to all.
Good morning, all. I found a Doctor Who thing to watch, yay! So I guess that’s my Christmas sorted. Have a great day!
It’s Christmas Meese. Up and cooking a nice meal. Hope you all have a peaceful day.
Puerto Rico
“Over the past week, C-17 heavy-lift cargo planes, which usually transport troops and equipment, flew to Puerto Rico at least 16 times, according to flight tracking data reviewed by The New York Times.”

Christmas – hope it’s happy for those who are celebrating. It’s 63 heading for 76 and supposed to be mostly sunny. Which is good. Yesterday we generated 5.25 KWHs and the m-t-d at 143.86 is not on track but a sunny day will get it back on track.
The only holiday thing I’ve got for today is the call from my younger son who’s in MD celebrating Xmas with his wife’s family. Other than that it’s just another day we don’t get mail. Well, and that my house is decorated and I’m still working my way through leftover turkey and Yule treats. LOL. Meanwhile I’d best be about my boosting. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, meeses! Oops!
WednesdayThursday – Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the holiday! It is 57 degrees and raining in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 73 and the possibility of seeing the sun later this morning.
I am plugging away at my end of year accounting work. Every year I bemoan the fact that I let it go until the middle of December. This morning I realized that I had not been keeping up with the spreadsheets that track purchases I made that were for my company. Those need to get identified and “reimbursed” in 2025 to be usable as expenses in this tax year. In any event, I best get back to it.
See all y’all later!
Merry Christmas Thursday, Meese! It’s gray and 47 F. in Ashburn. Yesterday was gorgeous, and I was able to see a silver slice of moon in a cobalt blue sky. Rain is coming, but not soon.
What’sApp has been ringing off the hook this morning, with the International family chiming in. I woke up to discover my hair looks like that of 12-year-old Hayley Mills in “Tiger Bay.” Goddess help us. I GOT ENOUGH SLEEP LAST NIGHT! Feel so well I might go to the gym after I do a little tidying.
I do not like receiving telephone calls from commercial establishments on Christmas Day. This one purported to be suspicious of charges on my credit card. As I do nearly all my buying through PayPal (yes, I know, but I’m old), I’m going to check to see whether I did buy something for $9.00 from Cosmetic World. My PowerBall ticket says Power Play: NO. What’d I do wrong?
Anyway, hope everyone will have a lovely day. I must make the hard sauce for the pudding, refrigerate it, and then get on with the rest.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Good morning. Hope everyone had a good day yesterday. I watched movies and went for a good walk. My big plan for today is to go to the gym.
Happy Boxing Day, Moosekind! It’s cold and gray this morning in Ashburn. We may have a wintry mix starting at 5 p.m., or then again, we may not. Who knows?
This morning I’m trying to wake up. Am now halfway through first cup of coffee, thinking I might need to make more. I do have to go to the bank and call the phone company, so hope I can wake up in time to do that. Received so many chocolates for Christmas I’m chocolated out. Well…I know! I can share them with my writers at our meeting next month.
Daughter and SIL are still in town, will have dinner with SIL’s sister and her husband tonight. Tomorrow Daughter, Hubby, and the Girls will drive back to the Icebox State. Daughter is now talking about buying a house here so she can escape most of the winter in Lenox. Told her we only ever get one flake of snow all winter and two drops of rain during the year. I must say the Chihuahuas have behaved remarkably well. They had to stay in a nice warm car last night during dinner to avoid being eaten by the big bruiser of a Boxer. I took care to wear my oldest, ugliest clothes yesterday to avoid their being damaged by that dog. He drooled all over my jeans, but luckily didn’t tear anything this time. Washed the jeans already.
It’s 9 a.m. I gotta do something and go out. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
It’s 61 heading for 76 and sunny at the moment. Yesterday we generated 6.8 KWHs and the m-t-d at 150.6 is back on track. Barely. Hope we get at least that much today and tomorrow. Sunday’s supposed to be cloudy & rainy.
I did get the call from my younger son and we had a nice phone visit. And he was the last of the family holiday contacts. At least the family I expect to connect with over the holidays. Or any other time. The holiday season isn’t exactly over – yesterday was only the 1st of the 12 days of Christmas and Ephiphany is still 10 days out and my decorations at least won’t come down until then – but it’s mostly over. Over or not, I still have boosting to do so I’d best be about it. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Did you win the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot? I saw that it was a single ticket to a person in Arkansas! I hope it is someone deserving.
Wasn’t me. You’d have heard about it if it had been. LOL. I hope it was someone who, whether or not they are deserving, will be deserving by what they do with it.
Good morning, 43 and cloudy. Well my Christmas house looks like fun was had and now it’s time to tidy and put things away! After everyone left yesterday I found my blankie and went to sleep and then I went to bed early. I’m lingering with coffee and music now but I’ll soon see what needs to be done. Best wishes to all.
Saturday Meese. We only got about 5 inches of snow last night which our wonderful next door neighbor is now outside blowing and shoveling.
Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico is not for sale. We know that it will be a long and difficult struggle, but it is a necessary struggle to defend our coasts, our environment, and our people.

It is actually sad what happened to Snoop Dogg. I will never understand black celebrities going MAGA and making it look like the tRump administration is normal. I turn the channel when I see him come on the TV
Good morning, meeses! The real Saturday in a week full of Saturdays …
It is 55 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 63. It is raining now and is expected to rain off and on throughout the day.
I am plugging away at getting the year end accounting done that needs to be completed by 12/31/2025. Some things that require money moving will need to be identified by 12/30/2025. I am getting close! Pretty soon I will have to pivot to client end of tax year so I need to put my shoulder to the grindstone.
My two women’s basketball teams will be playing on the 29th (Wisconsin) and the 31st (Arizona).
See all y’all later!
Good morning. Getting ready to go to kickboxing. It is record-setting warm here – mid-80s, that is just wrong. But then it’s supposed to freeze Monday night, so…. Anyway, hi, happy Saturday.
