Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: June 29th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Morning, Meese. As anotherdemocrat says, there’s nothing good about it. Those poor missing children and grownups swept away by the flood! I hope they find the missing ones alive. I didn’t know water could rise that high that quickly.

It’s a beautiful day here in Ashburn. Not sure if we have little flying insects out, but I’ll check later. The buffet yesterday was so-so, we got it over with quickly, but I did enjoy the concert in the courtyard yesterday evening. Many of the more musical members of the Drama Club were there. Mike the musician is such a dear.

After doing ZERO yesterday, I woke up this morning feeling like doing something! I dug out my recipe for Banana Bran Muffins with walnuts, made them, and they were delicious. I’ll have to refrigerate the rest as soon as they’re sufficiently cool.

I’m washing the rest of the bathroom rugs and will dry them on the porch. I wish Dearly would take me shopping, but between his naps and his nonstop TV watching, we have little chance. Why don’t I take myself shopping? You may well ask. I hate driving, that’s why. I especially hate driving in Goddess-forsaken Loudoun County.

If I can avoid falling asleep right after dinner, I will wait until dark to go out and look at Her. Haven’t seen Her in such a long time, and of course, Tuesday there’s a chance of rain, so…

Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.

  2. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

It is 90 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 95. Mostly sunny skies with a very small chance for rain – there are clouds over the mountains, so anything is possible. I got my walk in before it hit 90 but it was not a refreshing walk because the humidity is quite high. Last night we saw the moon before the sun went down.

I have been trying to get caught up from the end of the month landing on a Monday and not having time to do end of month/beginning of month things. I still have some bank statements to download and bills to pay but I have a good list.

    See all y’all later!
