Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 85 F. under partly cloudy skies, going up to 90 F. today. Bfitz, please send us your 1.5″ of rain. We need it!
Went looking for the moon last night, but naturally there were enough clouds up there to obscure my vision. There are times when I dislike summer because the view isn’t as good.
Went for my initial evaluation at Cardiac Rehab yesterday and they were pleased with my numbers. I may be able to go back to the gym here starting week after next, provided I don’t go faster than I’m allowed to go at the Rehab.
My lower lip and left jaw started swelling last night. Duck-Duck’d it and the item that nearly made sense was “atopic dermatitis.” It suggested that abstaining from tomatoes, citrus fruit, wheat, sugar, chocolate, and dairy would help. Well, duh, that would leave me with green tea and beans. NUPE! I considered this possibility for 5 seconds before asking myself how abstaining from this stuff would stop the swelling around waist, stomach, hips, thighs, and upper arm. Good old Left Thigh is pretty much back to normal this morning, but as I said, left face and lower lip look hunky-gory. I do need to go out later today so I’ll wear a mask and pretend I have bubonic plague.
Found to my enormous pleasure that I’ve done more on the “V” monologue than I’d remembered. A few more hours’ work should see it finished. E., who will play “V” on stage, is already ordering her hoopskirt and dress from Amazon.
Need to go shopping for groceries before it gets too much hotter. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
Another day when my check-in didn’t post. Weird. Anyway: watching Le Tour, doing laundry, getting ready to leave for kickboxing. Love picturing Ted Cruz’s face when I’m punching. Have a good Saturday, y’all. A/c was fixed quickly yesterday, and I think it was covered in the service contract.
I just realized it didn’t post because I got logged out & didn’t re-log in to post. Totally my fault. Distracted by Le Tour.
Good morning, 71 and sunny in Bellingham today. Thursday I couldn’t walk across the room without support, but yesterday I was able (with my new walker) to walk a trail by boulevard Park and then to water the garden……don’t understand and can’t predict joint stability but the good days are so welcome! I’ve had a quiet morning and will be in the garden this afternoon. Best wishes to all.
