Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 77 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 93. Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast with a slight chance of rain.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Sunday Meese. Another rainy day ahead here in Kingston. Sleepy cause I stayed up to watch the WNBA all star game.
Puerto Rico
Good morning. Made my tea and watching Le Tour. One of the Americans was out in front for a while today, that was cool. Have a Scientific American article to read when my brain wakes up a little (new difference between matter and antimatter). Hope everyone has a good day!

It’s 80/heat index 85 heading for 95/heat index 105 and sunny. At the moment anyway. Yesterday we generated 20.69 KWHs, 2nd highest for the month, and the m-t-d at 307.9 gained a little ground.
If there’s any good news going on in the world, I don’t know about it. Earicicle/Amelia’s cat is sick and went to the emergency vet last night. I haven’t heard the results yet. But I’ve got my Sunday chore done, my son will be here this afternoon with a pork loin he’ll cut into chops for me, and my friend will be home this evening. So things are good in my personal life. Time to be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Sunday morning, Moosekind! It’s another nugly day here, although blue sky is trying to break through the clouds. Today is our last day of humidity. The rest of the week we’ll have temps in the eighties and lower humidity.
Took Karl to the train exhibit yesterday. He wanted to come here for a sleepover, Goddess knows why. Dearly and I have succeeded in our unending quest to be named America’s Most Boring Elderly couple. Still, he’s happy enough being glued to the iPad we gave hm for Christmas some years ago.
Feeling quite tired after cooking three different breakfasts. That’s okay, I won’t do any more cooking today, I’m sure. I’m making a list of things I have to do, chief among them finishing the tedious biography, calling a Drama Club colleague, giving my eight characters names for the play I’m working on, “Auditions,” and what else…oh, yes, responding to the endless nagging requests from the hospital to “check in.” One of these days I’m going to become annoyed enough to say “to hell with you and your cardiac rehab.”
Yesterday I had a few hours off from the horrible angioedema. It was so nice to have normal-sized thighs and a normal-sized jaw line! However, by late afternoon the itching, swelling, and redness had started again on my abdomen, neck, and ear. I wish the medical people could recommend a cure. The cortisone cream helps but that’s just the symptoms, it doesn’t stop it from happening.
Better get on with my list of chores. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Good morning, 57 and cloudy with a chilly breeze. I’ve been trying to be more active and that means I need frequent naps and am waking up later. So by the time I get here to check in you all are busy with your days. I’ve finished my coffee, am stuck with today’s solitaire challenge, have one more chateau video to watch, and then I can address the usual tasks…..laundry, another blown hose, some desk work, and perhaps a dessert for tonight’s dinner. Nice to have a routine, but I am living a very quiet life. Best wishes to all.

Monday. Ugh. I woke up at 3:30; just refused to get out of bed toll after 4. Did my walk, sitting at my desk, eating breakfast (of which I forgot half). So, so far Monday is really mondaying. Anyway, hi.
It’s 78 already. Heading for 95/heat index 105 and sunny. At least at the moment. Yesterday we generated 18.81 KWHs and the m-t-d at 326.13 gained a little more ground.
The 1st time I woke it was 4:20 – and the A/C was on. The 2nd time was 6 – the A/C was on again – so I gave up and got up. Or more accurately, started my day as I always do with my back exercises, which I do while lying down in bed. (Cuz I sure as heck am not going to lie on the floor to do them.) Between what my son brought from Sam’s Club and what my friend brought back from Berryville, we have a plethora of fruit and salad veggies for the coming week. My son couldn’t stay long enough to cut up the pork loin so I attempted to do it myself. Ahem. He would have gotten 30 chops and a 1-lb chunk to marinate for a recipe my friend wants to do this week. I barely managed 20 chops and thought I’d never cut through for the last few. Definitely not as even/uniform as he’d have done. The 1-lb chunk was easy. The other 2 lbs went into a Ziplock and into the freezer. Should this happen again, I’ll wait until she gets home and let her cut it up. LOL. But I grill the chops, most of which are also in the freezer. So good to have good food and plenty of it in the house. So many don’t. And on that particular reminder, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Monday Meese. Guy is coming today to rid my patio of the yellow jackets who have made nests in my patio furniture cushions. We haven’t been using the patio due to all the rain, and now will have to throw out the cushions.
Puerto Rico (I think I should address this anti-trans mess in Caribbean Matters)
Good ugly (meteorologically speaking) Monday morning, Moosekind! I thought in summer we’d wake up to sunshine and blue skies, but no. It’s 77 F. right now in Ashburger, likely to hit the 80s later today.
Darling Karl is very affectionate for an 11-year-old boy. He amuses himself by staring nonstop at his iPad. Lawks.
The family took a boatload of art supplies and storybooks home with them. I’d offered them to Karl, but he said no. I then thought his parents, who live quite close to a Green Drop, could drop them off but they were delighted to get the coloring books, paintbox, crayons, and storybooks. “Karl needs a start for school,” daughter-in-law said. I was happy to find that both kids are studying Spanish in school and that one of their neighbors is teaching Karl and two other neighborhood boys Mandarin. She’s charging $10 for the whole summer. I’m sure both Karl and Nora understand more Mandarin than they let on, considering that’s their mother’s native language, but it’s important to speak it and read it.
I want to start getting rid of stuff, so yesterday was a good day. Now I’m eyeing the junk on the breakfast bar. There is absolutely nothing I can do about Dearly’s side, but I can certainly clean up my own.
This will be a busy week. Have to get hair done today, then I’m meeting one of my writers for a chat this afternoon. I’m still outraged by the amount of meds I’m required to take, but I’ll argue with the next doctor I see.
Dearly is devastated that the Rethugs are going ax public television. We hardly watch anything else! American Greetings reminded me that tomorrow is Fineena’s birthday. I still miss her. She felt about Airedales the way I feel about beagles. I’ve comforted myself by filling my Facebark feed with pictures of beagles. Anyway, I’m glad that her last Airedale, Harriet, has a good home with someone who loves and understands dogs.
That’s enough from me, Moosekind! Wishing everyone at the Pond a good day!
Good morning, meeses! Monday …
It is 81 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 88. Sunny skies are in the forecast with a moderate chance of afternoon monsoonal rain. The waning crescent was splendid in the morning sky – she had a backdrop of thin clouds and the Morning Star was shining brightly below and to the right of her.
I only have time for a quick check-in as I have a number of projects to finish before I take the remainder of the day off.
See all y’all later!
Good morning, 56 and sunny in Bellingham today. I don’t know what I’ll do today but I’ve got multiple lists and lots of choices! So I’ll linger with coffee, play another solitaire game and then sort out the day. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. Working from home for the first half of today then going in this afternoon for a gathering for employees of the quarter & recognizing anniversaries where I’ll get a certificate & small gift for 25 years. Hard to believe. Anyway, happy Tuesday.
{{{anotherdemocrat}}} Congratulations on making it 25 years. May you pleasantly make as many more as you wish to. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Congratulations!
That’s a long time! Congratulations!
Happy 25 years
Tuesday Meese.
Puerto Rico
It’s 78 heat index 82 heading for 96 heat index 102. And sunny at the moment. Very light breeze but still muggy outside. Yesterday we generated 19.23 KWHs and the m-t-d at 345.41 gained a little more ground. Enough to be on track for slightly over 500 for the month.
The goddesses only know what’s in the air but my sinuses are not happy. Groggy, creaky, and clumsy this morning. Sigh. But compared to a whole lot of other folks, I’m fine. Off to start my boosting day (after I clean up some cat barf). Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Tuesday morning, Meese! I have to get ready to go to Cardiac Rehab. I’m hoping I’ll have this afternoon free to write. Today is going to be the nicest day we’ve had in a month, so they say. We woke up to sunshine this morning, the humidity is LOW, and the high will be 85 F. It’s 71 F. right now.
I feel bullied by the hospital and its MyChart fetish. I can’t wait to give them the boot and start exercising in the large, lovely gym right here. MyChart dings my email and phone a dozen times a day to remind me of appointments next month! OK, enough griping.
Something pleasant: when I came back from the garden after my haul of tomatoes, Dearly was watching the Colin Firth version of “Pride and Prejudice.” Got sucked in and could not stop watching until it was over, and that was 3 hours!
Gotta get moving. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Good morning, meeses! Tuesday …
It is 81 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 86. It is sunny now but was overcast this morning. Rain chances increase in the late afternoon – yesterday we got about a 15 minute shower in the late afternoon and then some more later in the evening.
I am looking forward to the WNBA resuming play tonight after their All Star Game break. My team, the Phoenix Mercury, won’t play until tomorrow and they won’t be part of my WNBA League Pass because they are exclusively on CBSSPORTSNET which I do not have. I could pay $5.99 for a trial subscription and may do that if we win so I can see it.
Busy day here but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
See all y’all later!
Jan – did you see any of this?
They are really characters, totally unrestrained! And definitely the talk of the town. I don’t think Collier was amused – she is such a an old fuddy duddy. :)
Good morning, 61 and partly cloudy outside my windows today. I now have a light weight and easy to use hoses in place for watering the garden. The next task is to sort out the drip system so the high water pressure won’t blow out those fittings. Sometimes gardening means knowing more about plumbing than I do so I have to really think it through. Oh well, keeps my mind occupied with problems I can actually solve. Best wishes to all.
