Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: August 3rd

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …

It is 82 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 108. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The weather people still have rain (and cooling!) in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday but hot until then. There was some rain over the mountains yesterday which is important. The moon was in the SE sky last night, waxing towards a full moon on August 9th. Tomorrow I will see her from my office window in the early morning.

I thank the goddess that tRump did not realize he had the power to destroy all medical research and vaccinations in 2020 or he would have killed all of us. Cancelling funding of mRNA vaccination research is reckless but what else is new? Dr. Oz, tRump’s CMS head, said that 2 or 3% of the population dying from COVID would be no big deal. Perhaps it would have been a big deal to the tens of millions protected by COVID mRNA vaccines and still here :::raises hand:::. The Republican Party owns this – every bit of it – and the millions who will die because of diseases that can be avoided. I hope that people in Europe and Canada and Mexico can pick up the slack until sanity returns to our country.

My WNBA team won last night but it had some scary moments. I had to go to bed at halftime since it would end past my bedtime (I can watch the second half today). The Racist Enabling Indiana Fever was defeated in Los Angeles by the Sparks. Now they come to Phoenix where I hope the Mercury can do the same. No organization that enables racism and misogyny and homophobia should have success in anything.

I am still working at my own pace but the grumbling from the clients whose work was set aside over the past month is getting louder so I may have to ramp things up a bit. Or perhaps I will deal with that mañana.

    See all y’all later!

  2. Depending on which widget I look it, it’s either 67 or 73. Either way it’s heading for 94, heat index 99, and sunny. Slightly breezy at the moment and other than the humidity rather pleasant outside. Yesterday we generated 18.85 KWHs and the m-t-d at 74 gained ground and is almost on track for 450. We shall see what today brings.

I’ve caught brief glimpses of the moon these last several nights – after 3 weeks of not seeing her at all – but she’s far enough south in the sky the trees across the way hide her most of the time. But brief glimpses are better than no glimpses and she’s beautiful as always.

Back’s bothering me. No news there. I’m icing it. Doing my best to get it to fix itself. I really do not want to go to a chiropractor. Old or new. I don’t want anybody breathing on my head from less than arm’s length (or even from arm’s length). I know darned well that if they mask at all it’ll be one of those blue surgical masks. Great for bacteria. Lousy for viruses.

    Anyway, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  3. Good Wednesday morning, Moosekind. Yet another ugly day, overcast and humid. Currently the temperature in Ashburger is 72 F., going up to 80 F. At least we won’t faint from heat exhaustion.

We had fresh peaches and baby pancakes for breakfast. (Trader Joe’s doesn’t have grown-up pancakes unless they’re gluten free.) Finished filling out a Medicare form.

THE ITCHING HAS STARTED AGAIN on my stomach, so just put some cortisone cream on it. Gawd, it was so nice not having it for a few days. My body is clearly trying to tell me something, but no one in the medical profession is getting the message. My doctor will see me at 1 p.m. Monday, which is fine. Could be a flare-up of the ovary, could be cancer of the lymph nodes. Hope not, because the 1,000s of meds I’m taking for the cardiac thing are already too much.

Enough griping. Going to take myself to the gym before my podiatry appointment at noon. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!

  4. Good morning, 63 and cloudy in Bellingham. I could hear and smell rain last night so I hope the garden got a good soaking. I watered a few plants yesterday and was surprised with how dry the soil is, summer is fading fast. It’s been a week of covid now so I hope we are in recovery mode. Best wishes to all.
