Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: August 3rd

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Heaven only knows what just happened but I guess I finish my post now. Ahem. Yesterday we generated 17.93 KWH and the m-t-d at 127.11 is on track for 450 and gaining ground.

    More prayers for Earicicle/Amelia – yesterday afternoon someone sent her an adopt-a-pet notice of a cat who looks so much like Winston they could have been littermates (except this one’s 5 years old). The write up makes him sound like Winston too. After thinking about it several hours, she applied for him (his name’s Dwight). IF this works out, there could never be a better example of a beloved animal saying, “I couldn’t stay but I sent you someone who will love you and you can love”. She will never love or miss Winston any less – just as she still loves Colby and Tigger and LeiLoe and all the other cats she’s been cat mom to for some 50 years. But she will be comforted and get her balance back.

    Another wretched night. If tonight is as bad as the last few have been, I’ll stop the generic Flo-nase a day short of the full week trial. Meanwhile, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

    • {{{Bfitz!}}} I didn’t like the generic Flonase either. Even with the real one, I use it sparingly. I enjoy the inhaling too much and being an addictive personality, I don’t want to get hooked on it.

  2. Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 71 F. here at 10:25 a.m. We are having a pleasant, September-like weekend here: the morning low is supposed to drop into the 50’s overnight! Meanwhile, low humidity, blue skies—it’s great. Last night I saw the Sturgeon Moon, in all her icy-white glory. What a beautiful sight! She even let me take a photo of Her, which I shared on Facebark.

    Saw a doctor yesterday, not my usual, but another one. She said if my body were a toddler, it would be described as “having a tantrum.” The three additional meds she prescribed have already made me feel better. Prednisone, plus an anti-itching one, which I have to take before retiring for the night, and one to lower stomach acid. This morning the swelling is somewhat reduced, but it had started on my bum yesterday before I began the meds. Yecch!

    Was worried that my September Reader Theater play was too short, so I showed it to the writer I cribbed the basic idea from. She suggested an idea for a first scene, which I wrote while waiting for Rehab to begin, and it’s HILARIOUS, if I do say so myself. It rescues the play!

    Meanwhile, I have to type the script for the August Reader Theater play and send it out. Three of the eight actors have already been cast, so it’s just a matter of choosing the others.

    Sorry to be so wordy. It’s time to take a shower and get ready to go to the gym. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
