Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 73 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 93. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Good Sunday Meese!
Puerto Rico
That was so devastating!
Good morning. Good day so far, watching local news & my tea smells lovely. Today: church, cooking and just getting ready for next week.

Good Sunday morning, Moosekind! It’s 66 F. in Ashburn, an ugly gray morning. It probably will not rain. The high will be 71 F.
I left a late post yesterday explaining my absence from the site. This morning I was pleased to find Dearly still alive but rather confused because of a dream he’d had.
He had another awful night but managed to stay awake for breakfast (smaller than usual) and the F1 race. I told him the Boyz are coming over with pizza around lunchtime. I didn’t say they were afraid this is the last time they might see him alive. Dearly is so up and down I don’t know what to make of it. One minute he seems so bad that I’m thinking, “Better tell the Assistant Director to put my understudy to work,” and the next minute I’m thinking, “Let’s see, what can we have for dinner?” He plans to watch the Commies play at 1 o’clock.
I need to get washed and brushed before the first visitors arrive. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
{{{Diana}}} Holding you & your family In The Light and sending lots of Healing Energy for Dearly to purpose as he wills. Healing Energy to you too. And More {{{HUGS}}} Blessed Be.
Hugs Diana, sending caring thoughts to you and your family.
Thank you, dear friends! It makes such a difference to have friends like you.
The Commies won, I hope that cheered up Dearly! We will always be here for you, Diana.
Thanks for being here, Jan. Yes, Dearly and the Boyz were very cheered.
All good thoughts to you, I know this is a hard time.
Thanks, Becky.
It’s 69 heading for 84 and sunny at the moment but more rain in the forecast. Yesterday we generated 3.75 KWHs and the m-t-d at 239.1 lost ground.
Yesterday’s forecast was totally off. Instead of clearing by midmorning and a high in the 80s we got brief moments of sunshine between downpours all day. Over 2.5″ rain, which we need. I got caught out in one of those downpours while going to get Cloud’s refills. Got soaked going into and out of the vet clinic and white-knuckled my way home. The temps didn’t get above 65 until 6 pm, zoomed up to 71 by 6:30, then started dropping again. But I used the cooler weather to bake 2 small loaves of ginger apricot walnut bread and a small pork roast.
Got a late start on my Sunday chores and was made later because of the Raynaud’s flare yesterday’s weather gave me. That’s the only thing I have against cool/cold weather. What it does to my hands and joints. Oh well. Meanwhile I’d best be about my boosting. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Your food sounds so good! Sorry about the Raynaud’s. Elder Son told me today about his recent business trip to Fayetteville and how impressed he was with the town—the university, the houses, everything.
For all that we’re in a bloody red state – Rs have supermajority of everything – Fayetteville is a good place to live. {{{Diana}}}
Good morning, 58 and breezy, but the rain last night was good for the garden. The family is coming for dinner tonight and everyone is bringing something so it will be relatively easy. Marcus was here yesterday and the crabapple tree needed more work done than I realized so I’ve got lots of branches with small apples to use with the hydrangeas for some flower fun this afternoon. Best wishes to all.
Good morning, meeses! Monday, the Autumnal Equinox …
It is 75 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. We had quite a bit of raining yesterday – it rained most of the afternoon – but I am not sure how much total rain we had. What I think seem like “big rains” (when the wash is running), often turn out to be 1/3 of an inch. This rain is from the Pacific hurricanes, it came mainly from the west, not the monsoon. Our moon just started waxing and is at 0.4% illumination. Grab some energy! I will publish my Equinox post later this morning, closer to the time of the Equinox.
I ignored the news as much as possible with the literal nazi rally 100 miles or so up the road sending clouds of hate across Arizona. It isn’t the first time hate was fomented and amplified here and it won’t be the last. I am proud of the countries in the British Commonwealth recognizing a Palestinian state and chortled a bit thinking that King Charles knew about the plan the entire time he was enduring a visit from the orange garbage dumpster. It probably helped him get through what must have been an exhausting visit. You could feel the cleansing!
I have an entire week of September left and a doable list of 3rd quarter tasks to complete. It is also time for Fall cleaning as my office closet has been gathering things all year and it is time to sort, toss, scan, shred and then bring stuff to the storage locker. My WNBA team lost, exposing the lack of coaching skills that the Mercury coach has. He was unable to adjust to what Cheryl Reeve threw at him in the second half while any sentient being could see what was coming. The good news is that the best of 5 format guarantees that the Mercury will have at least one home game and the fans will be able to thank the team for a fun season.
See all y’all later!
Equinox greetings posted: here!
Monday Meese. A very chilly fall morning here in Kingston.
Puerto Rico
“In Puerto Rico, we fill stadiums and coliseums for Bad Bunny, and in the United States, they fill them for Charlie Kirk. We are not the same.”
It’s 68 heading to 81 heat index 85 – according to the weather widget. Clouds to the northwest, sun to the east. We shall see what we shall see. Yesterday we generated 5.74 KWHs and the m-t-d at 244.54 lost more ground. At this rate we’ll be lucky to make 300, never mind 350.
I’m creaky and running a little behind my time today but otherwise OK. Same for Natalia. And apparently my cat. So. I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. Happy Equinox. {{{HUGS}}}
Good Monday morning, Moosekind! It’s another nugly day in Ashburn, 67 F. now, going up to 79 F. and humid. A blessed autumnal equinox to all.
There’s talk of AOC running for POTUS! No, no, a thousand times, no! Also, the thing to ponder today whilst one is feeding the hens and grooming the Palomino: the capitalists want to mine Helium 3 on the moon so they can create supercold environments for quantum computing. How, pray, does one “mine” a GAS? (Note to self: whatinell is “quantum computing”? Must look it up.)
Back at the ranch, the news is not all that good. I was alerted by a beeping sound while I composed one of my saintly emails to my writers. It turned out to be Dearly, whose finger thingy (pulse oximeter?) was only registering 84 instead of 94 or better. He is not getting enough oxygen, despite the oxygen concentrator and the inhalers. He did eat a little breakfast, made the coffee (thank Goddess), and paid the resident monthly fee. He’s having a nap right now after his horrible night.
We’ve decided to get the absentee ballot for him after all. I went to the Board of Elections site and Loudoun County seems to have its head screwed on properly. You can even check to see whether they’ve received the ballot.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond—and if I never hear about The Kirk again, it’ll be too soon.
{{{Diana}}} More Healing Energy to you/your husband/your family. Moar {{{HUGS}}} Blessed Be.
Good morning, 56 and light clouds outside my windows today. Our family dinner was fun last night, but my creaky joints are rebelling this morning so I’ve got my legs up and ice on my back. I’ll be very careful re what I do today. Best wishes to all.
I don’t see my check in from yesterday, but I remember posting it. Anyway, hi. It’s gonna be 100 degrees here today. Glad I won’t be driving home at 5pm. Only thing going on is that I have till the end of October to figure out my TV situation, my complex is switching from Spectrum to Google Fiber. Definite first world problem.
Tuesday Meese. Rain all day today here in Kingston.
Puerto Rico
On September 23, 1868, between 400 and 600 Puerto Ricans left Manuel Rojas’ estate in Camuy and arrived in Lares, where they proclaimed the Republic of Puerto Rico. They lit the flame of freedom and national dignity.
Today, 157 years later, our challenge is to rescue and stabilize the institutions that sustain the life of the people—health, energy, education, transportation, universities, the environment, and the economy—which have been dismantled by negligence and abandonment.

Good morning, meeses! Tuesday …
It is 75 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 95. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The humidity is higher than I like right now but it should dry out when the sun comes up. Three days in the 90s and then we drop into a period of daytime highs in the 80s with overnight lows in the 60s – October weather! Maybe we can finally turn off the a/c.
I am hoping the lionization of christian white nationalists stuff stops filling the headlines here soon. Our local paper in Tucson is not sucked into it but for some reason the Arizona Republic, the Phoenix paper, is filled with tRump and kkKirk puff pieces. Maybe they are pre-bowing to be inoculated against being shut down by the the “Free Speech” police? I nearly gagged when the front page of the Sunday paper had a big image of tRump in all his hideous orangeness with “Arizona is Trump Country” emblazoned across the top. Ick, ptoooey! Not my part of Arizona!!
Tonight the Phoenix Mercury players try to figure out how to beat the Minnesota Lynx so that they don’t face elimination when they return home on Friday for Game 3. I wish they had a coach who actually had plays and strategies. I think the players like that he doesn’t actually try to teach them anything (as if!) but it might be nice to have someone who understands which players should be on the floor to counter the other coach’s schemes. When they block you from scoring in the paint, you have to put your three point shooters out there. I will watch the Indiana Fever v Las Vegas Aces game as well but only in the hope that a referee will finally T up Caitlin Clark for coming onto the floor and harassing the opposing players. They will never do it in Indianapolis so this may be their last chance.
I got a lot done yesterday and I have a nice tidy to do list today.
See all y’all later!
It’s 73 heading for 80, heat index 85, and overcast enough the PV system is still in night mode. Humid as all get out. Hear thunder so we may be getting some more rain. Yesterday we generated 10.35 KWHs and the m-t-d at 254.79 lost more ground. At this point the new house next door shading the panels at the end of the day is moot since the clouds are shading them the rest of the time. sigh.
Thank heavens for housemates stronger than I am! I’ll do laundry this evening and she’ll hoist that basket of heavy wet clothes, which I cannot, and get it out to the car then into the laundromat to be dried. Won’t be an issue once the cooler weather gets here and I can dry things in front of the fire. But right now it’s definitely an issue. That friendship can and does fix.
Can’t think of anything good going on in the world. But we’re still here. And I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good afternoon, 67 and light clouds outside my windows today. I’m restless but need to stay quiet a while longer so I will. I enjoyed listening to the Rachel’s interview with Kamala Harris last night so I will buy the book. Best wishes to all.

Reposted. I can’t believe that they want to block that image because it causes hurt feelings among white people who think it criticizes their ancestors embrace of slavery and their current embrace of white nationalism. It will never hurt as much as what that man suffered. Bastids.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 79 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 97. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The clear sky this morning is filled with a dazzling array of stars. I do find the return of Orion’s Belt comforting; every time I see the three stars, it serves as a reminder of the cycle of the year and, this morning, the coming cool down.
The Phoenix Mercury stunned the Minnesota Lynx with an epic comeback and a victory in overtime. They were down by 20 points and I was resolved to a loss and then they had a massive run, cut the deficit in half and then ended up tying it with a last second 3 pointer and then a miss by Collier with 1.6 seconds left. It was the third largest point comeback in WNBA playoff history. Now the Lynx have to travel to Phoenix and we will play at least two more games. The coach finally listened to what we had been shouting at the TV for the last two games – give the ball to Sami Whitcomb for the game deciding 3-point shots – Bonner is great but Sami is clutch.
I have a few things to get out the door this morning so I best get back to them.
See all y’all later!
Wednesday Meese. Bluesky embeds not working for me today over at DKos – will see if they show up here
Puerto Rico
hmmm. Not working here either.
It looks like their server fixed itself. Seeing all the embeds.
