Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good morning, meeses! Tuesday …
It is 54 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 72. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I am hoping to get two walks in today.
I hope the European Union holds firm and tells the Felon and his deadenders to shove their “peace” proposal where the sun doesn’t shine. If they need proof that the American experiment has failed and that they can turn away from them, they simply need to look at the war crimes tRump is committing daily. The United States government deserves no respect. Good luck, Marco Rubio, trying to pivot away from the war crimes you facilitated, including starving an entire continent, when you start running in the 2028 Republican Presidential Primary. Anyone who was part if this malAdministration should be shunned by decent people.
I am trying to get some year end accounting work done and it is a slog. No sports on TV so I should just stay on my computer and get things done.
See all y’all later!
Good morning, 49 and cloudy in Bellingham today. I have PT this morning and a Christmas list needing attention this afternoon so I need to stay focused. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. Today will be warm, but tomorrow morning will be in the 30s again. Have I mentioned that winter here is a roller coaster? Work holiday party at lunch; luckily it’s offsite so I don’t have to drive downtown. Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 50 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 75. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The weather widget is suggesting that we will see 77 by the weekend. We did get a brief glimpse of 71 yesterday afternoon so today’s 75 might be a reality.
Today my two basketball teams are playing, one at 10am and one at 11am. I will probably try to watch the Badgers because I don’t seem to bring them bad luck when I watch them. I will watch the score of the Arizona Wildcats game but watch the replay later. They are playing Eastern Kentucky who is 7-1. They did not look great their last two games (losses). The coach is not showing any panic and is pleased with the progress but time is running out to figure out how to beat Big XII teams.
I am still plugging away on year end accounting. I let myself get distracted by looking at possible rental houses and now I am running late. We are done with apartment living, it served its purpose but the latest tenant change in our quadplex (the 4 units that share the entry area and staircases) was not a positive one. It is likely to cost me dearly to move before the end the lease and I will have to weigh the $ vs happiness. Timing is always an issue with rentals and home sales. There is no perfect way to do it. The one time that it worked perfectly was when I sold my condo to the real estate broker and she rented it back to me while the house I was having built was being completed.
See all y’all later!
It’s 46 heading for 53 and sunny. Yesterday we generated 7.5 KWHs and the m-t-d at 51.87 gained another smidge. If the widget’s right we may actually get on track and even a bit ahead before the next lot of cloudy days bring us down again.
Natalia did a lovely rich and meaty beef vegetable soup for dinner last night. Pureed the veggies. Had red wine in it. It was very good. Then she baked “Grinch” cookies – really drop sugar cookies that were greenish because of the chopped pistachios & pistachio pudding and had a red cinnamon heart in them – for a work meeting today. Of course we had to eat the ones that broke coming off the cookie sheets, right? 😁 A lot more fat, butter, sugar, & other carbs than I normally eat in a day. But delicious. (& if I did it 2 days in a row I’d be sick. LOL.)
I did see Herself as I went to put out birdseed this morning. Lovely as usual. A little brain foggy right now but not bad. And my hands are too stiff. Yet. Best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 50 and raining in Bellingham. PT was tiring yesterday but I’m getting stronger so no complaints. I just needed a long nap after so my Christmas to do list is longer today. So coffee and solitaire first and then I’d best get busy. Best wishes to all.
Good Wednesday afternoon, Moosekind! It’s a gray, cold, damp day in Ashburn and 45 F. right now at 3:42 p.m. I wouldn’t say it’s raining, exactly, but there are drops.
I think I’m losing my mind! I address people by the wrong name, forget where I put my makeup (still can’t find the lipstick or concealer), and sleep horribly. Last night I had 5 hours, if that. What is wrong with me? Mango is horrifying Europe, they’re losing their minds too. Hope they stand strong against him and his minions.
On the plus side: Did some more kitchen cleaning and organizing, have desk work to do this morning, an appointment with the foot doctor today at 12:30, tonight dinner at 5 with three Drama Club members. Then at 7 we’re going to the EncoreRocks! concert here: a group of shining, silver-haired oldsters who are going to sing a rock-‘n-roll Christmas program. Good!
It’s later in the day, nearly 4 p.m. I never got to the desk work but I did go to the gym to row and lift weights. Went to the foot doctor and then my friend wanted me to have lunch with her, so we did that. It was nice.
Having a cup of tea this cold gray afternoon before I dress to go to the restaurant. I hope the concert is good!
If the Mighty River does not deliver those petits fours for my writers’ Christmas party tomorrow, I do have a backup plan. So that’s good.
Mango just seized a ship off the coast of Venezuela. Of course he wants war! He needs to deflect attention from what’s going to come out about Epstein and other things.
Hoping all at the Pond are having a good day.
{{{Diana}}} You’re dealing with a lot of stress. Life will settle into a new pattern and the stress will ease back some as you get used to it. Healing Energy. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Did my walk, then ran back outside to see the Space Station. Clear sky, great for seeing it (bad for our drought situation). Anyway, happy Thursday. In the office. Sigh.
Good Thursday morning, Meese! Oh, what a coil! Didn’t sleep a wink all night because of stress, then was assailed by severe leg cramps about 4 a.m., causing me to stamp and moan in pain. Took care of it as best I could.
The latest panic: I can’t find my passport! The last time I used it would have been when I took Nora to Montreal in 2019. I’ve looked in our little safe, looked in the metal boxes, and found a passport for me that expired in 2008. But where’s the latest? If I can’t find the one that’s still valid, I hope they’ll let me get an expedited one.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, it’s an ugly dark day, 32 F. in Ashburn. I have the Christmas party for my writers this afternoon, followed by the 4:30 Christmas singalong, and then Nora is coming over to set up the new Mac. Oh, lord, what will become of me, as Mrs. Bennett used to say? I shall go distracted!
Going back to bed to see if I can sleep. I’m in ba-a-ad shape! Oh, just to make things more fun, the life insurance people misspelled my name on the proceeds check. Don’t know what’s going to happen because of that.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Hope you find it. Sorry you aren’t feeling well Lady D
Thank you, Sis!
{{{Diana}}} Healing Energy on all accounts. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Oh no! I hope you can get everything sorted out. :(
Thanks, bfitz and Jan. I’m up far too early (can’t sleep at night), so had a little to eat and drink, and I’m just going to think about something else for a while. Then it may come to me. I’m told that such goings-on are part of the classic grief process.
They are signs of the grief process. It doesn’t make them easier to live with but at least you don’t have to worry about whether or not there’s something wrong with you. There most certainly is not. Healing Energy. {{{Diana}}}
Thursday Meese. Only got about a foot of snow yesterday. Today, skies are clear – 26 degrees atm
Hurricane Melissa
Puerto Rico
It’s 36 heading for 61 and supposed to be sunny but it’s not yet. Yesterday we generated 7.58 KWHs and the m-t-d at 59.45 is almost on track. We shall see what today brings.
Going to do a Tractor Supply run today. I’ll get cat litter, kibble, and birdseed while I’m there but the main purpose for going right now is to get a wreath before they’re out of them. They won’t restock. Seasonal item and all that. Meanwhile I’m a little groggy and my hands are very cold and stiff so I’m moving pretty slowly today. Off to start my daily boosting. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, Meeses! Thursday …
It is 54 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 77. Sunny skies are in the forecast. It did not quite get warm enough to take a morning walk and an afternoon walk so I settled for one at mid-day. Today I will see what the late morning brings.
Both of my Women’s College Basketball teams won, the Wisconsin Badgers quite handily because they did not take their foot off the gas, the Arizona Wildcats turned theirs into a nail biter. I think they may have learned a lesson about not easing up when you have a nice lead which is a good lesson to learn. The Wildcats have one more pre-conference game next week then the Big XII season starts.
I let myself get sidetracked this morning and still have must do accounting work on my platter. This morning I was sidetracked by client issues so there were no options but it still leaves me with more than I want to do this morning! I will return to my computer after breakfast.
See all y’all later!
Good morning, 51 and cloudy outside my windows today. It’s nice to have a break from steady rain. The Nooksack River is flooding communities and roads in the county but most of the worst floods are south of us. So far we are safe and the basement is dry. I’m plugging along with Christmas stuff but I’m not feeling very jolly this year. Oh well, 2025 has been a challenging year and it will soon be over. Best wishes to all.
You can say that again, girlfriend!
I second that for many reasons.
Yup.
I got up early because today’s ISS pass was at 5:30 and I wanted to be already walking.. Fog and clouds. : ( I got in a longer than usual walk. In the office, eating breakfast and wondering what to make for next week’s lunch.
Good gray gloomy Friday, Moosekind! Another horribly busy morning lies ahead, wherein I have to type a letter, then scuttle to the nail salon to get my feet seen to. The temp is currently 30 F., going up to 39 F.
Princesspat, I saw the foot doctor on Wednesday and she said the Ooofos recovery shoes were good! She approves of them. I hope so, because my feet feel better than they have in years. Also, she approved the bunion and hammertoe separators I wear under my socks during the day. She said not to wear them to bed or for more than 8 hours during the day.
In other news, my writers and I had a hilarious time at the Christmas party I threw for them yesterday. We’d written some really entertaining stories. Then I went to the Christmas carol singalong and that was fun. After that Nora came over. We had dinner at the Pub, after which we came back here and she migrated my files from the old Mac to the new. The only thing that isn’t working is the mouse. I would rather use a mouse than bang away at the keyboard. You should see her slender fingers fly over it, though!
She said I didn’t need to pay her, but I did anyway. Girls always need money. After they marry, they should all have Running Away accounts in case their husbands turn out to be rotters.
Have been sleeping horribly! Woke up several times between 10:30 and 3 a.m. this morning, so I finally said, “Hail, I’m getting up.” Did that, had some breakfast, then went back to bed for an hour. A friend who has been through this told me that I’m displaying classic grief symptoms.
Well, I may join a grief support group. Meanwhile, another horribly busy morning lies ahead.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
{{{Diana}}} A grief support group sounds like a very good idea. Healing Energy. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
It’s 38 heading for 57 and starting to be a sunny day. Yesterday we generated 7.59 KWHs and the m-t-d at 67 is on trach and still gaining.
Lovely clear morning. I actually saw 2 stars as well as the lovely crescent moon. Rocky night so a bit groggy this morning. (Which means I’m staring at the computer screen trying to remember what I meant to say. And not.) Hands stiff but managing. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good afternoon, meeses! Friday …
It is 75 degrees here and the sun feels wonderful. We may see the 80s on Sunday!
I finished the accounting work I needed to get out the door. I would have preferred not sending it out on a Friday afternoon as Inboxes tend to overflow by Monday morning but it is what it is. I promised myself that I would not be late this year and I am not.
I had the Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team on the TV and checked on the score throughout the early afternoon. I watched them win the match and advance to the regional final!
I have a good to-do list for the weekend and a head start on some of my project work.
See all y’all later!
