Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

Good overcast Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 29 F. in Ashburn and they’re actually talking about flurries tonight. Pshaw! I’ll believe it when I see it.
Last night I was able to see Her glorious Supermoon Silvery self, both on the way to dinner before nightfall, and afterwards, when the night sky was black. She’s called the Wolf Moon this month, you know. I must remember to play wolf howl at some point during the day.
Yesterday was a red-letter day! My new passport arrived, and very ugly I look in it, too. Well, I’d only had 4 hours’ sleep when the photo was taken. Stress.
I talked to Social Security. Only had to wait 15 minutes to get an agent on the phone. She told me I am not eligible for survivor benefits because the Social I’m already receiving is equal to or more than half of what Dearly’s was. Okay. It helps to know. However, I am eligible for a one-time payment, for which an appointment has been set up for February 24th. Not sure whether this is in phone or in person.
The freakin’ joint bank account refused all passwords, no matter how new, so I had to go to the bank in person. Once I got home I discovered that Capital One has what is indubitably the worst website I’ve ever tried to use. It wouldn’t even let me sign out! However, I can do things on my phone with the mobile app, so for the time being, alles ist gut.
Went to the gym. Did a half-hour row because all the treadmills were in use.
GROAN! NOW he’s declared war on Venezuela? Without Congress’ approval? What’s next, Greenland? Also, he plans to build an Arc de Triomphe in DC! Saw this on the news. He plans to start work on it within 2 months. Is there no end to this insanity?
I hold the world’s record for getting dates wrong. The UU dinner is tonight, not tomorrow night. I plan to skip dessert so I can get to the movie (“The Karate Kid”) and the demonstration beforehand. I love watching karate but am too clumsy to do it myself.
There is a man (luckily, he holds the right opinions) who’s taking me to lunch tomorrow. He is starting to get on my last nerve with his once-every-hour texts. I’m sure he means well, but I will have to gently tell him not to keep doing this. There are other people I want to hear from and other activities I need to do.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond! Anotherdemocrat, I think I’d go mad if I had to put up with 80-degree temps in January. Hope you can get your walk in anyway!
Good morning. Back from kickboxing. Warm enough for t-shirt and capris. We won’t get up to yesterday’s record-tying 89, but still, that’s way too warm. I got up to 40% of my goal raised yesterday, yay! Re-boosting the diary today to see if I can get to 50%.
Good morning, 47 and raining in Bellingham today. I’m just waking up and the news is dismaying so I’m going to try to find some music to distract me. Best wishes to all.
