Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good afternoon, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 84 degrees on my weather widget but 92 on the backyard thermometer. Sunny skies. I did not get my morning walk in because my Inbox was filled with projects and then there was an issue with the water I needed to deal with. Today was the day I planned to be early / on-time to check in but alas, it was not to be.
Wisconsin elected a not-hiding-it-at-all liberal to the Supreme Court giving them a majority for at least the next two years. tRump+20 districts voted for her. I hope people are still allowed to vote in purple states this fall because there appears to be a blue wave forming.
See all y’all later!
Thursday Meese. Leaving home at 6AM to head down to Latinx freedom conference in NYC
Later this evening will be at and speak at the appreciation gathering for my dear friend Minerva
May not be able to log in here till Sunday night
Safe travels! Looks like a wonderful conference.
Good morning. Had a good walk/run. I ran the choruses of 3 songs. In the office, preparing to be around people again. Thursdays are always an adjustment, I have 2 peaceful days, then oh wow, the world is loud.
It’s 55 heading for 80 and sunny at the moment. Yesterday we generated 17.43 KWHs and the m-t-d at 116.22 gained another smidge.
I don’t know about pounds but simply because 2 meals out of 3 Natalia is eating the way I do (and not the way either of her husbands did), she’s dropped from size 18 pushing for 20 to size 14 possibly going to 12. She’s not “dieting” or doing anything special to lose weight. She only knows she has because of the clothes she’s wearing now versus the clothes she was wearing while she was still married. I won’t go so far as to say men are bad for women’s health but there do seem to be indications in that direction. LOL. Meanwhile, I need to be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 41 and partly sunny in Bellingham today. Marcus will be here soon so my garden will be even more clipped…..I know it’s what we need to do but I really don’t like the process! Oh well, the hedges will all grow back, I can trust the people helping me, and we’ll be glad for easier maintenance but today I’m feeling stressed. Best wishes to all.
Good afternoon, meeses! Thursday …
It is 86 in Tucson. Partly cloudy skies this morning but the sun seems to be breaking through. I took a short walk this morning but it was too hot to take my longer walk after I was finally able to break from too many work projects.
Looks like the cease fire lasted about a day. The orange garbage dumpster is finding out what other presidents already had – Israel cannot be expected to give a rat’s ass about American interests or really about being a good global citizen. The Israeli people need to kick Bibi to the curb before they become international pariahs.
See all y’all later!
Good morning. Walked and ran, the new U2 songs are still playing so much in my head I almost don’t need my walking playlist. So glad it’s Friday, and I don’t even need to cook this weekend.
Good morning, meeses! Finally made it to FRIDAY …
It is 64 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 86. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. We are expecting a period of cooling leading into high temperatures in the low 70s and a significant chance for rain on Monday. April and May in Tucson are generally known for pleasant weather but the weather guessers are saying “hotter than normal.” Like everywhere!
I have only been scanning the headlines. Good lord, what a mess! The MAGAt voters should never be forgiven for putting a known sociopath and grifter in the White House. Fie on the United States Supreme Court for blocking the prosecution of Donald Trump. The dead from his wars of choice and the shredding of our safety net lie at their feet. I am not sure what happens if we were to win back at least one House of Congress; Republicans have chosen to neuter their own power to the point of making Congress irrelevant, is there any way to take that power back?
My chuckle of the day: a headline in the Milwaukee paper that said “Wisconsin Republicans Look for Answers” after the shellacking and bleeding of support for their party exposed by the Supreme Court election on Tuesday. Call on me, call on me, I have the answer!! You elevated a literal pile of human garbage to be the leader of your party and he is ruining people’s lives and livelihood. Even dumb people can see what you did.
I have many things to do in order to pull together notes for weekend projects and communicate with clients about them.
See all y’all later!
It’s 61 heading for 78 and sunny at the moment. Clouds are already starting to move in from the west. sigh. Yesterday we generated 13.4 KWHs and the m-t-d at 129.62 lost a smidge. (Needed to be 135 to be on track for 450.)
Went over to DK last night because someone told me I was mentioned in a diary. And I was, among a number of people no longer posting at DK for whatever reason (most of mentioned have died but there were a few other banned folks like me) who helped make DK what is it. Thanks Dee, for putting in the comment about what I’m doing now. (There were a few other nice comments as well. I don’t miss the place but I do miss a bunch of the people.) Anyway, this is apparently to make sure folks who are gone will be remembered after the move to wordpress next week because our diaries, comments, and graphics will be not be transferred to the new platform. Heaven only knows if I’ll be able to find it much less boost the few things I still boost. Or check to see if my peeps are still at least well enough to be online and posting.
Sinusitis flare last night. I did get a single good 2-hour stretch of sleep between 11 & 1 but that was it. So both groggy & working with stiff hands today. But there’s still boosting to do so I’d best get to it. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
I rarely visit Orange nowadays but as far as I know I wasn’t banned. Will my diaries be lost because I’m not very active? Lawks, is that another thing I have to do besides memorizing the play? I was planning to use some of my diaries for my memoirs.
I’m not sure but if you can get over there before Tuesday, find those diaries, and copy them to Word documents or something like that just to be on the safe side, it would be good. You’ll be logged out with the move so have your sign in/password info stashed back somewhere too.
I ported the diaries I cared about over to my personal blog back in 2012 when I left. Obviously not the comments but the writing and photos. I am surprised that they are going to WordPress, it does not allow for much in the way of control, a BIG DEAL for them. Do you have a link to the “where are they now” diary? I would like to see how they reflected on those I know have passed. I think about them sometimes – we were very close back in the olden days.
One of the comments in last night’s diary about the beta & what they’d learned said that the “back end” of wordpress was a hostel for thieves. From the troubles Aji & sometimes you have had with wordpress I was surprised about it.
Apparently there are a bunch of these that have been done, maybe still are through Monday, but here’s the link to the one I was mentioned in. There are more in the comments of course.

Thanks for the link, I will look at it later.
From what I know about WordPress, it is a magnet for attacks and trash. That is why I chose to have locked comments and refuse to use any third party commenting plug-ins, nightmares if you want to control who and what connects to your website. It sounds like the owners might want to set it up so that they can walk away from it.
Do you know if they plan to set up a read-only snapshot of the old website?
Haven’t a clue what they mean to do with the old site. Going to the new site doesn’t sound really good. I hope it doesn’t mean DK is going to fade out. I know so many blogs that were started around the same time basically died when whatever they’d started up for went away but DK lasted because it had/has community. Those communities don’t have any place else to go.
Good Friday morning, Moosekind! ‘Tis a shiny morning, cold now, but 75 F. later and I’m so glad. Yesterday was super-busy, so I was wrung out by evening. Had to run to the bakery early to pick up Shakespeare’s birthday cake. They’d put the wrong icing on so I had to wait while they fixed that.
Then I came back to attend a lecture on Hindu goddesses. I really like Durga, she of the eight arms who rides a tiger bareback. My kind of female! Then I had to pack up the thermos of boiling water, the magical rose teabags with condiments, and even a box of apple shortbread for Mr. Supertaster who can’t eat chocolate or spices.
I gave my writers a test on Shakespeare quotations to identify, which they failed miserably, but I awarded prizes anyway: the Shakespearemints, the Lady MacBeth soap, etc., etc. Told them the quotation exercise was meant to show them what they’re missing by not reading or watching Shakespeare’s plays. The cake was enjoyed by all. It had chocolate frosting and a legend that read, “Happy 462nd birthday, William Shakespeare.” I asked the baker to put red roses and white roses, trimmed with green icing leaves, on one side. Do you remember that sonnet containing the line, “The roses fearfully on thorns did stand/One blushing shame, the other white despair”?
Well, anyway, I came home (my place looks as if a drone had hit it), rested, and then went to dinner at the Pub down the hall with my Thespian colleague. Rehearsals have been canceled for last night and tonight as our accompanist is not well. Our director isn’t feeling very perky either. I must try to find my little book of spells so I can do a healing spell for both of them.
Well, that’s enough from me. Hoping to get an appointment for a pedi this afternoon, and must make tracks for the AT&T store to get a glass cover for my phone.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
P.S. I made Bfitz’s Lemon Muffins this morning and they were SO GOOD I’m going to make them for my writers in May. They’re not too deathly sweet, which I like, and the lemon flavor is awesome!
{{{Diana}}} I’m so glad that recipe worked well for you. And yes, the lemon flavor IS awesome. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Good morning, 43 and sunny in Bellingham today. As expected my garden is a half pruned mess and I’m feeling very unsettled…..part of the process. Marcus and Bri will be back today to finish so by the end of the day it will all look better. And I will have another big check to write. Makes me think about how much longer we can afford to hire the work we can no longer do. Oh well, tending to my small world does keep me occupied. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. On my way to kickboxing even though I really just want to stay on the couch. But if I get the exercise done early, at least I’ve started moving. Watched the Artemis II splashdown last night, it was awesome.
It’s 58 heading for 81 and supposed to be sunny but it’s not at this point. Clouds early, sunny later is good. Sunny early and clouds later is less so. Yesterday we generated 9.38 KWHs and the m-t-d at 139 lost more ground.
We did get to 79 yesterday but that was midday – by midafternoon it had clouded up and the temps were in the mid 60s. So I brought firewood inside just as it started sprinkling (which is all it did – sprinkle) and had a fire late in the evening. When I went to bed my feet were warm and back unknotted for the first time in over a week. I can’t say I slept through the night, but I sure did get a lot more larger chunks of sleep. Now it’s time to be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Saturday morning, Meese! Right now it’s fair in Ashburn and 61 F. It might get up to 70 F. Got a pedi yesterday, that took a while. Went to dinner with my neighbor across the hall and it was nice, since we had to walk there and back through several buildings. I need to use up some of my meals before Thursday. Made a granola sundae for breakfast. I’m learning to eat plain Greek yogurt although it’s very tart.
Watched the splashdown last night and was so thrilled! And thankful, by George. So glad they’re all safe and sound. I loved the pictures of our beautiful home planet. The poor old Moon, seen up close, looks as if it had acne as a teenager, it’s so pitted.
I’m going to rest for a while before doing anything else. Need to read my book for the Biography Book Club and study the script some more. I wish I could make it to the AT&T store today. We’ll see.
Eager to find out how the prom was last night for granddaughter. Wonder whether she wore the pale yellow floor-length gown. Well, that’s all from me today—wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
I was holding my breath the entire time the astronauts were doing the re-entry until I saw them appear on the inflatable porch. In a more simple time, we did not expect space travel to kill astronauts but after Challenger, we lost our innocence.
For me, re-entry is…… I was holding my breath and didn’t even know it till I took a deep one when the parachutes opened. I was way out in the Texas hill country, driving back from a training ride the morning of Columbia. I’m pretty sure I saw some debris flying.
Good morning, 49 and cloudy in Bellingham today. We made good progress with the pruning project yesterday so I’m feeling less stressed. They will be back on Tuesday to finish, and then we can get everything looking tidy again. Between I 5 still closed due to the rock slide and the increase in gas prices both Bri and Marcus are feeling the impact on their small businesses. Just doing a dump run now costs more than most of their customers are willing (or able) to pay for. I know that paying them costs less than owning our own truck did so no complaints from me. I’m just grateful for their assistance. Best wishes to all.
Good (just barely) morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 77 on my weather widget and 90 on my backyard thermometer. Expecting a cooldown tomorrow.
I spent the morning organizing projects for the next week and doing accounting work. Now I am going to play word games with my online friends and then play solitaire while I watch sporting events.
See all y’all later!
