Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

It’s 51 heading for 70 and overcast. sigh. Yesterday we generated 14.46 KWHs and the m-t-d at 171.63 gained a smidge.
I wish I could think of something I could do to stop the evil my country is doing in my name with my tax dollars. I cannot. But I can at least try to help folks in need of food, meds, and shelter by boosting their requests. So I’d best be about doing so. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good afternoon, 52 and raining in Bellingham today. I was at the dermatologist early Monday, had a haircut yesterday, and needed recovery naps both days. Seems like I’m sleeping alot.
I had allergy patch tests applied to my back on Monday and so far they are just itching. When I’ve had allergy scratch tests the resulting hives were hard to control so I’m relieved this seems to be a more gentle way to test for allergies. The rash on my face is puzzling and the suspect cause is an allergic reaction to a med. So for now it’s vaseline only on my face and no make up at all so I’m feeling greasy and extremely annoyed. Oh well, the patches come off today and the results will be read on Friday so I will survive….and perhaps even find some relief. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. In the office, did my walk. It has been an exhausting week and the horror of the news doesn’t help.
Thursday Meese. 30 here in Kingston – no snow or rain today. Yay!
Puerto Rico
Hurricane Melissa (which has almost been forgotten by the US MSM )
It’s 55 heading for 83 and supposed to be sunny today. Yesterday we generated 15.52 and the m-t-d at 187.15 gained another smidge.
It’s a pity so many MAGAts think they will get to be in charge if we can just force this country to be like England under Oliver Cromwell + genocide of everybody not white, cis, Fundie, & abled. But then if they could reason, they wouldn’t be MAGAts.
Tuesday my son soloed on a 2-hour flight including multiple landings from Fayetteville to a couple of small air fields in MO, and back to Fayetteville. And he was supposed to do his first night flight with his instructor last night. Just the short hop from Fayetteville to Springdale. If it went well he might even have done his solo on that right after the flight with the instructor. He’ll tell me about it the next time I talk to him. A lot of work and savings to make this dream come true – it takes a minimum of $15K in training and renting planes for required flight time to get a private pilot’s license – but once his boys were grown and had left home, he put his energy into achieving his boyhood dream. And he’s getting close.
Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Thursday moaning, Meese. Mah lands, it’s 37 F. right now, going up to 58 F. this afternoon, and altogether gray and ugly outside.
Have a doctor visit this morning to discuss the results of the A1C test. Hope she doesn’t consider me to be prediabetic and tell me to follow an appropriate diet for diabetics. The thought of no more hot breakfasts is deeply unappealing. I ALSO managed to ruin the coffee this morning. Not a good day so far.
Ah got mah Social yesterday! Also finished wrestling with the devil yesterday afternoon, so both the federal and state income tax returns have been filed. I have to print them out later. What else has happened…every morning I’m awakened by the pain of arthritis in both feet. Rather oddly, once I’ve put the magic* cream on them, they feel better after a while. I do like the fact that one of my favorite gym routines is rowing, so one hardly needs to walk on one’s feet for that.
Horrible news out in the world, but things are progressing here on the ranch. I should stop moaning. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
*Frankincense and myrrh cream. It smells wonderful.
I had an elevated A1C for a while and was able to get it down without giving up everything I loved to eat – I hope they can give you some advice that lets you enjoy your breakfasts.
Good morning, 51 and raining in Bellingham. I’m just waking up so today will be slow and sleepy. Time for coffee and solitaire, then perhaps the afternoon will be more productive. Best wishes to all.
Good afternoon, meeses! Thursday…
It is 95 degrees and I am staying indoors today! I missed the sweet spot for my walk and will need to schedule a time when I take my walk regardless of other things that need my attention.
I found out that the Wisconsin Badgers Women’s Basketball team will be playing on the WBIT tournament. Good for them. I am watching Southern and Samford in day 2 of the First 4 and will watch the Badgers later.
See all y’all tomorrrow!
Friday Meese. 29 here in Kingston going up to 57 with rain. Got a new printer scanner and am having a horrible time getting it to print. Sigh.

I have been in IT technical support for over 50 years and the most frustrating devices are printers. I am not sure why they have to be so difficult. I hope you can get it resolved.
Good Friday morning, Moosekind, and happy Ostara! It’s officially the first day of spring. Jan, I’m sorry it’s going to be so hot where you are. Right now in Ashburn it’s 38 F., heading for a high of 72 F., with possible rain predicted for the evening hours.
I need to go to Costco this morning to see about that new iPhone. Also need to eat breakfast. I’m trying to look for hot breakfast ideas suitable for diabetics, even though the doctor said I don’t have it. So far I’ve found banana pancakes and carrot-apple muffins. She also wants me to get off Lorazepam and onto a different sleeping pill. Will do.
Had a really rotten night so I hope there’s a nap in my future. Rehearsal tonight, Drama Club meeting tomorrow, followed by dinner and a movie with my friend.
Wishing a good day with no bad news to all at the Pond!
Good morning. So, the news is awful and things just keep getting worse. I’m muting the Cesar Chavez news for a while, because it is so upsetting. I’m going to work on my diary for tomorrow at the orange place, the Saturday juke box. It will post at 6pm central, lots of INXS music.
They are in the process of renaming everything that has his name on it. Very sad for supporters of farm workers. I wish there was a way to separate the garbage person he was from the work he did and still support and respect that.
I think Austin will rename the street for Dolores Huerta. Dunno what UT will do about his statue.
There is a UofA building named after him.
Good morning, meeses! Friday, as we are poised to begin Springing into Spring …
It is 70 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The moon is waxing and is at about 3% illumination right now. I will look for her in the ENE sky when she rises right before Equinox but I suspect she will be too faint see in the sunlight. The stars are beautiful right now in the clear dark skies.
I was glad to see the Southern Women’s basketball team win their First Four and the right to play (get crushed by?) South Carolina. They are a fun team to watch. My Wisconsin Badgers won the first round of the WBIT tournament by beating Oregon State in Corvallis. I will have to check the web site to see when and where they play next. They have a good team but are in a tough conference that put 12 teams into the NCAA tournament. In any event, my “watching a basketball team that I have a connection to” has been extended for another game! The Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team plays later today in the semifinal of the championship tournament. They have to play Penn State at Penn State which is hosting the tournament. Seems unfair but Wisconsin can’t host the Frozen Four because of conflicts with other sporting events at the Kohl’s Center. I am still not sure why playing in a championship game would not be more important than high school boys basketball – it surely cannot be that male sporting events are more important! :::insert eyeroll here::: In any event, there will probably be a lot of Badger Fans in Happy Valley as their fans travel well.
See all y’all later!
My hockey team won in overtime and advanced to the championship game, to be played Sunday afternoon.
Bright Blessings of Ostara in whatever form is most blessed. It’s 57 heading for 90 today and sunny. Yesterday we generated 15.68 and the m-t-d at 202.84 gained another smidge.
Natalia and I both had a rotten night. I managed to stay in bed and doze a bit here and there until 6 but she just flat gave up and got up around 4. Just too bloody much evil stuff going on we can’t do anything about. Trying to focus on what’s at hand, what we can do something about helps me. But a lot of hers is wrapped up in dealing with the obfuscating, production lowering, employee-morale trashing WorkDay program that even focusing on what she can do is stressful. Sigh. Only 3-1/2 months to go and she’s out of there. Which will definitely improve her mental health. Meanwhile I need to be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 55 and raining in Bellingham today. My garden looks like weary winter, time to do a spring reset. I see the dermatologist today so I hope the patch tests will show a result. Best wishes to all.
Saturday Meese. 39 here in Kingston going up to 48.
Puerto Rico

Good morning. Getting ready for kickboxing. Happy Saturday, everyone.
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 64 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 99. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I consulted my moons widget and it does not look like I will see the moon from my best vantage point for the rest of the month. I am going to see if I can find a good WNW location in the evening but I may have to walk to find it.
I am avoiding the news. I keep hoping that when the MAGAts find out that trump duped them into thinking he would not start wars that they will rebel, especially if he sucks $200 billion out of the Treasury to pay for them and gas prices hit $10. But MAGAt electeds have no real principles, they are enthrall to their leader and the only third rail is crossing him so they will vote for what he wants. If we had a functioning Fourth Estate, people would be told daily about the rotted seeping orange pustule’s lies and not allow the Republicans to blame Joe Biden and the Democrats who have been out of power for well over a year. I am sure the ads in October will be filled with images of transpeople destroying our democracy. :(
Today there will be sporting events, tomorrow there will be sporting events and there will be sporting events daily for the next two weeks. It is a good time if you want to be distracted from the chaos of living in an autocracy led by the most ignorant man in the world. But right now I have a very large project queued up for this weekend and I need to get to it.
See all y’all later!
It’s 66 heading for 91 and sunny at the moment. Yesterday we generated 15.56 KWHs and the m-t-d at 218.4 gained another smidge. If the PV panels weren’t so covered with pollen we might be able to get a few smidges more per day.
The gunk in the air is a little bit messing with my sinuses but mostly messing with my eyes. Sigh. As usual when it’s warm, the bugs are out. But at least I don’t have to worry about my feet being warm enough so I can sleep without an evening fire. It’ll cool off, some, starting tomorrow. Way too warm for this time of year in NW AR. A lot more like what I grew up with in Houston in the 1950s & 60s. Which is not encouraging.
My cough is pretty much back to the normal sinusitis kind. Natalia’s rash is just about gone. And a very unpleasant major project that’s been messing with her sleep and giving her anxiety issues was finally finished yesterday. So that’s good. Meanwhile I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

Good Saturday moaning, Meese! Why are we moaning today? Because I had my second Night from Hell in a row: a big, noisy thunderstorm from 1 until 2—yes, lightning, thunder, pouring rain, the lot—followed by an hour of gastric reflux coughing, then arthritis pain in the right foot.
Have Drama Club from 2 until 3, then dinner with a friend and a movie from 5 until 9. If I don’t get a nap I won’t make it to the meeting this afternoon. I must rest my back now, been up since 5.
It’s 56 F. and sunny at the moment. Our high today will be 66 F. Wishing everyone at the Pond a good day!
