Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 59 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 82. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast.
Have a great day, all y’alls but “Beware the Ides of March”!!
Good morning. Crazy weather here — we’ll have a high of 90 today and high fire danger, but in the morning it’s supposed to be 40. Meanwhile, I’m watching local news because it’s mostly about SXSW and I just can’t bear national/international news. Tea is steeping and I can pretend for a short while that all is well with the world.
It’s 62 heading for 65 this morning but the temps will start dropping around noon and it’ll be 40 by sundown. Sunny at the moment but clouding up. Yesterday we generated 15.22 KWHs and the m-t-d at 134.94 gained another smidge. Which it’s going to lose later today.
The national and international news is truly horrible. Especially if you have a source for international news and aren’t just stuck with the combination of click bait and propaganda the fascist-owned American MSM puts out. I can’t say the local news is better because I know it’s not putting out the real news any more than the national MSM is. County govt was taken over by developers & MAGATs over 10 years ago. City govt was taken over by developers & MAGAts last year. So I focus on the health & well-being of friends & family and do my boosting. Which I need to get to right now. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

Good Sunday morning, Moosekind—it is still morning—and welcome to the Ides of March! I wish I could wake up today. I was thinking of going to the gym, getting my hair done, and working on income taxes, but I can’t seem to wake up properly.
It’s mostly cloudy skies and 53 F. in Ashburn. There’s supposed to be a tremendous thunderstorm tomorrow. Will believe it when I see it.
Had such a good time at dinner last night that we closed down the restaurant! It was 8 p.m. and I know the poor kids that were serving the customers wanted to go home.
My friend in Washington State sent me three packages of exploding cake. I only need one, so will give the other two away to the family.
I have to meet them at 6 p.m. I’d thought they were coming to help with the Roku, but no such luck. Well, well, ’tis a first-world problem. I should get cleaned up and do something.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
Good morning, 47 and the clouds are lifting. Ron is cooking a corned beef and cabbage supper tonight and I’m going to try to make a few clear spots in the garage. I’ll start by recycling cardboard and making a plan and then our son will do the lifting. Best wishes to all.
Monday Meese. 42 going up to 62 with rain today here in Kingston.

The WBB Tournament Brackets are interesting. Dawn Staley’s team will have a chip on their shoulder and a point to make. My guess is that the first 1 seed to lose will be UCLA.
Hope your predictor is correct!
Good morning. It is crazy cold for Texas in March, 38 degrees and super windy while I was walking. I walked inside the garage, no chance I’d walk on the roof in that. Anyway, happy Monday.
It’s 20, wind chill 10, heading for 35, wind chill 25, and sunny at the moment. We’ll see how long that lasts. Yesterday we generated 3.16 KWHs and the m-t-d at 138.1 lost more ground.
My fingers are stiff and not keyboarding well. But the cough is back to my “normal” sinusitis cough and not that evil whatever-the-heck-construction-spray-I-breathed cough. And Natalia’s rash is very much improved. Smaller patches, and while still red not “angry” looking. Her skin’s flaking but she found an oatmeal-eczema lotion that seems to be helping.
I’ve got cocoa-walnut bread in the oven and that’s why I’m running a bit late. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, meeses! Monday …
It is 72 degrees in Tucson with an expected daytime high of 84. Sunny skies are in the forecast.
I woke up tired which is never a good thing but I had to get up to address an early morning issue so I couldn’t just roll over and try for more sleep.
I have a busy week of appointments and deadlines and at least one fun thing planned. I will focus on that.
See all y’all later!
Good Monday afternoon, Moosekind! Had to rush off to a meeting that lasted an hour and a half, then pick up a couple of things at the drugstore. Yes, we have had some weather. It had rained when I woke up late at 7 a.m., and is pretty much raining still. We’ve had two alerts as to severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Now, tomorrow the temperature will plummet from its current 65 F. to the 30s! Talk about schizophrenic weather!
My DIL gets to work from home today–YAY! Kids released from school 2-3 hours early, depending which county they live in. The other three adults work at home anyway.
It was exactly 8 years ago today that we moved here. And just think what a lot has happened! My poor husband died, but at least he retained his mental abilities right up until the end. I’m grateful to have had the Resident Life Staff to help me plan the memorial service.
For the first 5 years I didn’t like it here, but for the last three years I’ve been as happy as I can be. Acting, writing, being politically active, even conducting rituals—it’s all been good. So yes, I’m glad we moved here.
Now, if I can just get through this play…
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
{{{Diana}}} 8 years. Seems so recent and also forever since you moved there. It was – and is – a very good thing that you did. You got the support you needed before and after Dearly died – truly wonderful that he was still himself to the end – and you have strong community support now. Healing Energy. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to those who celebrate.35 here in Kingston – no rain or snow here today!

The things trump does not know are legion. Worse yet, he has no interest in learning about anything! Republicans should be embarrassed elevating such an ignoramus to lead their party.
Good morning. It froze! Just barely, but wow. Sunday it was 97. Happy Ireland’s national day. I remember an interview with U2 in their really early days, they seemed shocked & kinda put off by the American version of the day.
I remember once speaking with an Irish woman living in the U.S. and asking her how the Irish celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. She looked at me like I was nuts and said, “It’s a saint’s day. We go to church.”
It’s was 20 at dawn, 28 now, and heading for 54. Unfortunately overcast. Yesterday it was sunny enough to give us the best single day’s generation thus far this year – 19.06 KWHs – and the m-t-d at 157.16 gained about half what it lost the day before. sigh.
The Market manipulators keep trying to convince the Market that gas prices are going down again but since we keep bombing Iranian refineries and Iran & her allies are shutting down shipping in the Middle East in retaliation reality keeps biting. And NATO is quite reluctant to help the U.S. destroy their source of energy.
My hands are stiff but otherwise I’m more or less OK. If running a little later than I prefer. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
NATO knows that any ships in the strait would be sitting ducks. There is no way to protect the supply of oil with conventional military assets when you are up against a swarm of drones. Plus the NATO countries know that trump wouldn’t be grateful so why do him any favors?
So true, Jan.
Good bitterly cold afternoon, Meese! Will not wish you a happy St. Paddy’s day as he drove the snakes out of Ireland. (Snakes = Pagans. Ireland is an island, so does not have snakes.)
It’s 38 F. in Ashburn at 3 p.m. This morning was bitterly cold and windy as I walked from my car across the Costco parking lot to the building. I had to go to the Hearing Aid department. They FIXED my hearing aid! Calloo, callay, O frabjous day! Now I can hear in my left ear. Conceivably I won’t miss cues during rehearsals now, as I did last night. I was really off my game last night, and everyone knew it.
Having dinner tonight with three friends. Need to finish wrestling with the devil. Why do I sleep so much nowadays? It’s awful. I feel like a hibernating bear. Also, I want to eat everything in sight.
Hope all at the Pond are having a good day.
{{{Diana}}} You can celebrate St. Gertrude instead – patron saint of cats, gardeners, and travelers. She was about a century before Patrick and on “the Continent” – her daddy was a “buddy” of Pippin in what later became France. To escape a political marriage she and her mom started a monastery (for women), sometimes called an Abbey, in what’s now Belgium and she was an Abbess for about 40 years.

Good afternoon, meeses! Tuesday …
It is 90 degrees and expected to get hotter. I did not get my walk in because I had back to back appointments all day and missed the timing for a walk with the temperatures under 95. Tomorrow I will have more control over my day – I hope!!
See all y’all tomorrow!
Wednesday Meese. 24 here in Kingston – going up to 35 – no rain or snow!

Good morning. My heater is kicking on to keep my apartment at 68. In March. I’m using my heater in March. Friday’s high will be 92. Crazy roller coaster. I’m going to look for bluebonnets when I go to kickboxing at lunch.
Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 61 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 93. Sunny skies are in the forecast. We are expecting highs close to 100 over the next 3 days as a heat dome moves in from California. The New Moon will arrive at 6:23pm MST and will begin her waxing cycle. I am ready to grab some of that waxing energy for March projects.
It will be interesting to see if Senate Republicans blow up the filibuster to disenfranchise millions of Americans. They have already destroyed the country’s reputation, financial stability and nearly every department in the federal government to please their Fuhrer so I think it is safe to say that they are no longer the saucer to cool the hot tea of the House and are likely to cave under pressure. It is a big gamble because if ending free and fair elections doesn’t work for them, they will lose bigly in November. You can’t fuel inflation, start an endless war and expose that your mandate is to turn the country into a white christianist nation and expect to keep your seats if people can still vote.
March Madness NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament officially begins today with the First Four games scheduled for today and tomorrow. Hooray!
I have a few projects I need to get done and then I will break to take a morning hike in the foothills before we hunker down for the next few days. March is too soon for 100 degree weather, by the way, so we hope it is not a new pattern.
See all y’all later!
