Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: January 25th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good Saturday morning, Meese, and a blessed Imbolc to you! It’s 14 F., heading for a high of 22 F. today in Ashburn, which currently is covered with “snowcrete.” The sun is shining and the sky is blue, which gives hope that tonight I can see Her. I’ll make a point of traveling to where I can see Her. Those of you who see her without having to make a special effort are lucky!

She’s called the Snow Moon, not unnaturally, considering the time of year it is. Imbolc begins at sunset tonight and lasts until sunset tomorrow night. I’ve written two Imbolc short stories in the past, might did them out and read them over.

Dinner last night was very late. We practically closed down the restaurant. I don’t like late dinners, partly because of the gastric reflux, and partly because one has almost no “evening” afterwards. Tonight, however, my fellow actor E. and I will have an early dinner and then go to see “Annie Hall,” which is being shown in the theatre a few steps away.

Hot news! I think I’ve found a guy to sing with me Tuesday night, which is wonderful. We’re going to sing a 2-minute George Harrison song (Lennon and McCartney actually wrote it), “I Just Want to Dance With You.” His nice male voice will compensate for the deficiencies of my own singing voice, which sounds like an combustion engine in need of repair—choke, choke, sputter, gasp. Anyway, we’ll see. We might have a practice Monday, with Dave the Tall kindly supplying the guitar.

Otherwise, I need to get washed and brushed and try to get my hair done and do a little shopping. Would like to exercise as well. Wishing all at the Pond a good day!
