Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.
Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 66 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Sunny skies are in the forecast.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Good morning. Tea is steeping, plants watered. I found some bluebonnets yesterday:

Can one of y’all tell me what I’m doing wrong that my Blue Sky things show up as a link & not the post? I know I’ve had them show up before, can’t think what I’m doing different.
Don’t know, but thanks for the pic of the bluebonnets.
Are you using the “embed” code? That is how you get it to display. The embed code is not available on all devices, I can only embed from my computer.
Sunday Meese.
Posted:
Depending on the widget, it’s either 69 or 75 and going up to 87 today. There’s some cloud cover but it’s white/gray almost fog-like, not heavy and dark. Still cuts the sun of course. Yesterday we generated 19.35 and the m-t-d at 162.45 is still gaining. We shall see what today brings.
Had to go outside just before bedtime and saw the moon as she cleared the trees to the east. Won unexpected just as she seemed to be resting atop the trees to the west. Which aside from being lovely also told me I didn’t have to get up yet. LOL.
Got my Sunday chores done and my hands are not happy. Also got a call from a friend which is why I’m running so late. So I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Sunday afternoon, Moosekind! We have blue skies with little puffs of white cloud, sunshine and WIND. At 2 p.m. we have 55 F., won’t get much higher.
There is horrid news back at the ranch: Mr. Coffee died this morning, so NO PROPER COFFEE at breakfast! We dug out the Keurig from Sleepy Hollow, where it has been resting for years. Our first cup was colored water. The second was half-strength and stone cold. The third try resulted in something resembling a cup of coffee. I drank that one. Dearly is too busy with naps and F1 to go out and buy another coffee machine at Target, so we’ll have to do without until he’s ready. I’m still boycotting Target, although I lasted only 10 days with Amazon. 😒
Going for a rest now, as we are meeting a friend at the appalling hour of 4 p.m. for dinner. Y’all behave and play naicely, hear? Prayers for all the people who need rosy red heart-shaped puffs of love and sparkling spirals of healing white light.
Good afternoon, 48and partly sunny in Bellingham. I finally bowed to reality and ordered some Easter and basic drug store stuff from Amazon. So that’s one walking errand off the list. My new walker passed the cobblestones in Fairhaven test yesterday but today I’m just to tired to negotiate parking lots and bigger store so Amazon it is. Oh well, now I can bake some cookies this afternoon and that will be more fun. Best wishes to all.
It is really hard to boycott Amazon. Local grocery chain used to carry tea concentrate, they don’t anymore. I like my tea super strong – I add sweetened concentrate to my gallon of strong tea to sweeten & strengthen it. I get my concentrate from Amazon. I’d buy from local chain if they started carrying it again.
I lasted 10 whole days boycotting Amazon. Have boycotted Walmart for many years and am passing my second month boycotting Target.
Monday Meese.
Puerto Rico
“The LGBTQ+ Federation, in a press conference tomorrow, Monday at 10 a.m. at the Bar Association, “will declare Governor González an enemy of equality for signing into law the bill that allows discrimination under the pretext of religious freedom.”
“On Saturday, May 17, we’re going to the Capitol to protest the homophobia and transphobia of this government. The LGBTQ+ community is respected. We will not take a step back. We’ll be waiting for you and your crew!”
Good morning, happy Monday. Did my walk, in the office; but I still get to wfh Tuesday & Wednesday. Avoiding the news.
YAY for working from home! They granted your request, then.
It’s 65 heading for 73 and cloudy. Sigh. Yesterday we generated 18.4 KWHs and the m-t-d at 179.4 still gained. We’ll see what today brings.
It was too cloudy to see the moon last night. And too cloudy to see her set this morning even if I’d been up that early. Which I wasn’t. The house is still warm enough from it being in the upper 80s yesterday that my joints are OK. But I’m always groggy when it’s cloudy. Oh well. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Too cloudy here also. I caught a glimpse of her in amongst the clouds last night but she was not very prominent in the night sky. This morning, nothing.
Good morning, 48 and mostly sunny in Bellingham. I’m baking desserts today and will freeze them and finish the frosting on Saturday. So Lemoncello cupcakes, a chocolate, orange and almond cake and old favorite cowboy cookies. Combining our son and grandson’s April birthdays and Easter means I have lots of old fav’s to choose from. The news of the day continues to be depressing so I’m grateful I have a domestic agenda to keep me busy. As always, my best wishes to all.
Princesspat, what are cowboy cookies? The cakes sound delicious!
It’s an old fav recipie…..my kids just liked the name:) A basic cookie with pecans, choc chips and oatmeal. The cake is made with ground almonds so no gf cooking and yes, it is very tasty.
Good afternoon, meese! Monday ..
It is 82 and overcast which in Tucson 🌵 means wispy clouds instead of intense blue skies. The sun is there but not very hot. I got my walk in when it was 72 but it wasn’t pleasant because it feels damp.
The Felon defied the Supreme Court and won’t force his little friend to return the wrongfully detained Maryland man. Game, set, match. From the Internets:
Also from the Internets:
See all y’all later.
Good morning. Saving the exercise for afternoon today. It was so hot driving home, and traffic is terrible – not just heavier but people are driving crazy & rude. I think people are taking out their anger about RTO on everyone around. I save mine for the kickboxing place.
Good morning, meeses! Tuesday, Tax Day for those who wait until the last minute …
It is 64 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw the moonlight on the greenspace this morning and she is just barely peeking into my office window from the southwest, casting her light into the corner of my office. I made a point of standing in the light – I suspect that I will not see her in the morning for much longer.
I am immersing myself into work projects and following sporting events to avoid the nightmare that is Amerikkka 2025. Goddess help us all.
The WNBA draft was last night and it was interesting to see who is going to which teams. The team I follow the most closely, the Phoenix Mercury, had no draft picks having traded them all to assemble a team that is not likely to do very well. The GM is not very smart and the coach is a former NBA assistant coach who showed nothing special his first year. It is unlikely either man has gotten smarter over the off season. In any event, it was entertaining and fun to speculate about which teams will be successful and which teams will not be. Lots of coaching changes and player movement in the off-season and team chemistry will be key to success. I need to go renew my WNBA Pass today; games start at the beginning of May.
See all y’all later!
Good Wednesday morning, Moosekind! It’s 62 and cloudy in Ashburger. After lunch, 50-mile-per-hour winds are predicted. Quelle horrible event!
Yesterday was glorious, sunny, blue-skied, and so warm (71 F.) I didn’t have to wear a jacket. Spent the morning before my lunch date doing errands in Reston. Hot tip: don’t mail anything to a friend in Canada if you can avoid it. I mailed a copy of my writing group’s book to two friends in Montreal. $26 each! Our soon-to-be 51st state does not have media mail.
Had a late, great lunch with my Circle Sister at La Madeleine restaurant. Then I had a Board meeting and rehearsal back here. Was wiped when I arrived home.
Last night after rehearsal I left by the front door of the Clubhouse, hoping to see the April moon, but discovered it was RAINING. After I came home and got into my pj’s, I stood on the porch and listened. It was raining most satisfactorily. So far our deficit is three and a half inches for the year to date.
Dearly went out and bought a new Mr. Coffee so we had COFFEE this morning! It was the Right Stuff. Must hotfoot it to the hairdresser. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond, and healing white light to those who are ill.
It’s 51 heading for 68 and sunny. A bit breezy though. Yesterday we barely made it to 15 KWHs so the m-t-d at 195.4 neither gained nor lost ground. If today stays sunny we’ll at least be over 200 by end of day and have gained a little bit more.
Too cloudy to see the moon last night. Late to sleep, late up, groggy and creaky today. Stomach’s a bit knotted with anxiety as to whether my Social Security will come in tomorrow. I’ll order firewood for next year if it does. I’ll have to track down and shut off all my online automatic giving if it doesn’t. Among other things. Meanwhile, off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, 48 and cloudy in Bellingham today. Life interfered yesterday so today is baking day. And Bri will be here to work in the garden so I’ll need to keep my focus and stay on task. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. Didn’t get any exercise yesterday, worked hard all day — I seem to always get a call-back in the last half hour of work & I try to get all their stuff done before I log off. So I’ll try again on the exercise thing, knowing that even if I’m tired after a day of work, that’s not the same as exercise. But I got 10 new library users set up yesterday, which is a lot for one day. Anyway, happy Wednesday to all.
Good Wednesday morning, Moosekind, and sure, it’s a grand immortal day! It’s sunny, with a blue sky filled with white powder puffs, and 48 F. in Ashburn. Another nasty wind will arise this afternoon. Don’t know when I’ll ever be able to plant my home-grown, English-speaking, tariff-free tomatoes, but I hope it’s after the last freeze. We’re supposed to have one tonight.
AH RECEIVED MAH SOCIAL! Hope bfitz did too. It appears to be the usual amount as well.
In other good news back at the ranch: We received our tax refund. That will help buy a few eggs. Also, Rehearsal last night only ran 70 minutes! That’s much better than our normal run. My character of Irene received only two rockets: I need to enter earlier in Scene I, and in the gallery they couldn’t hear me asking the character of Lank to marry me.
Lank, thankfully, is MUCH better, now that he’s adjusting to the diabetes meds. He was perkier in yesterday’s rehearsal than he’s been for some time. After rehearsal he said he’d had the scare of his life when he ended up in the ER on Saturday, April 5th.
Covid vac this morning! I will wait until I am washed and brushed. I, uh, might not put the poison on until I see how I react to the shot. I’ve received four sticks of poison, which is Botox mixed with bee venom. It’s supposed to get rid of wrinkles. Can’t tell whether it’s made a difference or not.
Won’t comment on that AWFUL creature in the White House. Every day brings news of some hateful new ploy. Someone predicted the whole administration will implode by Memorial Day, but I don’t know.
That’s enough from me, Moosekind! Wishing a good day to all at the Pond, with healing white light and red heart-shaped puffs of love to those who are ill.
Wednesday Meese. Stayed up late to watch the WNBA draft on Monday- and wound up taking a nap yesterday and slept through Black Kos (my husband didn’t wake me up to post it on time)
Puerto Rico
It’s 55 heading for 76 and sunny at the moment although the widget says clouds later today. Hopefully a lot later. Yesterday we did highest single day so far this year – 21.15 KWHs – and the m-t-d at 216.56 gained some more.
Like Diana, I got my Social Security. For which I am devoutly grateful. Now I can order a cord of firewood for next winter, among other things. And go about my normal business for another month.
Baked cookies yesterday. We’re getting a short cool spell this weekend. I’ll do more baking and have what will probably be the last fires of the season. But now, off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
