Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: April 13th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …

It is 73 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Sunny skies are in the forecast. We had quite a few clouds yesterday afternoon and we must have gotten rain because I could smell it in the wash when I went out this morning. No moon, she is out of sight.

Glad to hear that SSA deposits are still going out, Bfitz and Diana!

I got some things done and now I am going to shut down, get my hairs cut and watch some sporting events on TV.

    See all y’all later!

  2. Good morning Meese.

  3. Did my walk this morning. The Space Station flew over but the sky was completely clouded over. Boo. I mean, I’m glad we’re going to get rain, but does it really have to be cloudy 2 days before the rain? Maybe I’ll see it next time. Anyway, Thursday, in the office. Hope there’s enough caffeine in my tea.

  4. It’s 65 heading for 81 and sunny at the moment. Yesterday we did get some clouds but generated 18.27 KWHs and the m-t-d at 234.54 gained a little more.

    Rocky night. Short on sleep and groggy. Also stiff but I think that has to do with the wind. Or maybe the front moving in tomorrow evening. Oh well. Since my Social Security did come in yesterday, I placed an order with my wood guy. I’ll at least have some wood to start next winter season with. Anyway, I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  5. Good Thursday morning, Meese! Gad, Puerto Rico! How awful to have all the power go out at once. I hope the hospitals, at least, have backup generators.

Here in Ashburn we have sunlight, cloudless blue skies, and 47 F. on our climb toward 64 F. The wind so far is only 10 mph. In case you’re interested, Ashburn is 3.50 inches under normal rainfall for the year to date.

Rehearsal last night was full of glitches. People in the back are still claiming they This time I’ll shout. Also, we rehearse in costume tonight so I’ll have to send Dearly to eat at the Pub’s bar while I’m getting ready. We have to change when we get there, can’t walk through the buildings in costume.

This afternoon I have an actors’ workshop from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Will be desperate for a nap afterwards. Yesterday I felt distinctly “off” after the Covid vac, so had to take aspirin. This morning my left arm still feels tender but I’m sure the soreness will wear off.

Horrible news as usual. I wish we could ever, ever get some good news, such as Melon and the Felon going to Mars to see if it’s a suitable place to deport people.

Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and healing white light to those who are ill.

    • Meant to say, “People in the back are still claiming they can’t hear me asking Lank to marry me. I have asked him to marry me 15 times so far, but this time I’ll shout.”

Hate destructive cursors! (That word oughtta be spelled “cursers.”)

  6. Good morning, meeses! Thursday …

It is 75 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 79. Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw the moon this morning when I took the dog out around 6am. She was visible in the clear blue sky to the SSW but not visible from my office.

Busy day. I hope everyone and their loved ones stays safe from the nazis.

    See all y’all later!

  7. Good morning, 45 and sunny in y garden today. The early rhodies and bluebells are in bloom so it’s looking very colorful. Rain is forecast for the weekend though so I’ve got the dining room set for lunch. We can be outdoors before and after if weather allows. I used to keep a rain/no rain plan going but I need to keep events here more simple now. And, tbh, I’m so weary it’s discouraging. Being 80 with severe arthritis is a reality I’m struggling with. Oh well, today we’ll go to TJ’s for food and tulips, flowers and greens will be prepped, and by Friday I hope to have all I can do ahead done so I can enjoy just being with family on Sat. Hard to believe our son will be 55 and Ryan will be 23……how can that be!

Our son and Elsa were here yesterday helping me set up a new printer, what a hassle! Electronics seem more complicated lately, but if I can remeber all the steps I shuld be able to print from my phone as well as from the computer on my desk. That will be much easier than emailing myself the info I want to print, then going to the basement study and using Ron’s computer to print it out. I got frustrated with the set up so thankfully laundry was waiting…..some days mindless tasks are welcome. As always, my best wishes to all.

  8. Good morning. Did my walk/run. In the office. We’re so short staffed today that all breaks & lunch are pre-scheduled for the same times so they can put the phones on night service. They’re buying us pizza for lunch at least. But it’s gonna be a long day.

  9. Good Friday morning, Moosekind, and happy 18th of April 2025! We have 51 F. under sunny skies in Ashburn, going up to 80 F. today.

“Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere
    The eighteenth of April, ‘seventy-five
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.”

Of course, it was really 16-year-old Sybil Ledington who gave the alarm that the British were coming, but she was a GURRL and gurrls aren’t allowed to be famous. Flush patriarchy down the toilet, please, its 5,000 years are up.

Feeling very chuffed about the reaction to my Scene 1 costume last night at Rehearsal. Only those who had costume changes were required to be in costume, the rest just wore regular clothes. Polly, our star, said of my costume, dramatically: “The hat, yes. The wig, yes. The sheath dress, yes. The mink stole, the diamond necklace and earrings, yes. BUT THE ROYAL BLUE SATN OPERA GLOVES—oh, my God!” Even Laura, the pianist, leapt from the piano she was playing and congratulated me on my outfit. One of the producers, the guy, offered to run off with me. LOL!

OK, back to business. The carpet cleaners are coming today “between 12 and 6,” they said, so a certain amount of tidying is necessary. I slept like the dead last night but wonder whether I’ll get a nap this afternoon. If I don’t get a nap after lunch my voice fades.

The actors’ workshop with Kate was fun yesterday afternoon. We did power braining. I am simply hopeless at math but good at words.

Healing white light to all those who need it. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!

  10. It’s 71 heading for 78 and sunny at the moment but a front – definitely clouds, maybe rain – is moving in. Yesterday we generated 17.3 KWHs so the m-t-d at 252.2 gained a little more. Actually we’re close enough to being on track for 450 that 18 today would do it. But I’m not sure we’ll get that. We shall see what we shall see.

    Got over 7 hours of sleep so that’s good. And I don’t have any time-consuming errands for today as I did yesterday (Walmart for kibble, credit union for cash, library for books, Co-op for supplements, Harp’s for groceries), so starting my boosting after 9 isn’t an issue. But I’d best get to it. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  11. Good morning, Meeses! Friday …

It is a rather cool 72 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with light fluffy clouds. Tomorrow the high is supposed to be 68! I saw the moon this morning in the ESE sky by leaning out over the railing. I did not see her from my office.

Quick check in as I am in the middle of a major project that I will be working on all weekend. I needed a break so it is only a brief pause.

    See all y’all later!

  12. Good morning. Getting ready for my day of exercise, errands & housework. Got extra motivation for kickboxing this morning as the Rethugs defeated the resolution honoring Cecile richards yesterday at the legislature. Memorial resolutions are normally passed unanimously & without debate. They need to remember that when their pyrite idol dies (he’s not even real gold), they’ll want to honor him.

  13. It’s 55 heading for 64, raining, and so dark the lights are on and the PV system isn’t. Yesterday the clouds moved in early enough we only generated 7.74 KWHs and the m-t-d at 259.4 lost ground. And will lose a lot more today. Looking at the 10-day forecast, we’ll be lucky if we get to 350 by end of April, never mind 450. sigh.

    Sinusitis flare last night. If I got 4 hours of sleep, I’d be surprised. (The rain and rumbly thunder was pleasant to listen to but I’d rather have been asleep.) So I am creaky and very slow today. Also very groggy. Oh well. Off to start my boosting day. I’ve baking to do but that’ll wait until I’m ore awake. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

  14. Saturday morning, Meese. Cloudy and 69 F. at the moment, going up to 80-something F., supposedly. We are due to go to a friend’s house for dinner tonight.

A little past 9 I received some very bad news by email. The actor playing Lank, who has a MAJOR role in the play, is in the E.R. with a case of shingles! That might explain his neck pain and his feeling rather ill the last few days.

I know how bad this can be. My poor elder son came down with shingles just as he was about to fly to Las Vegas for a “rewards” weekend for the top sales earners. Talk about a bummer!

I feel terrible for the poor man and plan to do a healing spell. I can’t do it until night, however. Too bad it’s a waning moon, blast it.

As for the play, we’re due to open on Thursday. I can’t imagine what’s going to happen as there’s no one else who has learned his part, and no one else in the cast has the chops to do it anyway. He’s asked me to keep it to myself for the time being. At some point he’ll have to tell Madame La Directrice, though.

He seemed worried about me because we’ve been in close contact, but I’ve had three shingles jabs, two of them since I came to live here. Even the jabs are no picnic!

That’s my gloomy news for a gloomy Saturday. I have a Drama Club meeting in a couple of hours but I will say nothing. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.

    • {{{Diana}}} – waning moon magic could be very useful in this case. Shingles is a forever thing. It lives in the body. It flares when health conditions are right for that but “healing” is basically symptoms diminishing and going away. While the new moon isn’t until the 27th, tomorrow is the last quarter. So the moon could very much be part of diminishing symptoms. Blessed Be.

  15. Good afternoon, meeses! Saturday …

It is 72 and sunny. We had rain this morning – yay!

I am in the middle of a project that I need to finish but I wanted to check in.

    See all y’all later!
