Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good morning, meeses! Wednesday …
It is 85 degrees in Tucson with partly cloudy skies. I took a slightly longer walk than planned because they were doing road work on part of my normal loop. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain so I will have to plan my walk a little more carefully. Last night I saw the nearly full moon again but I bet she will not be visible tonight.
The headlines suggest that Republican electeds are going to push back against the orange vomitus over the cost of his war. PUHlease!! Do they think we are stupid? They will NEVER rein him in even if his policies are wildly unpopular and they will lose their jobs. That is not how cults work.
Tonight the next round of WNBA preseason games is scheduled. I am excited to see Dream v Sky, Angel Reese’s new team versus her old team in Chicago. Usually preseason games include the projected starters for at least the first period then they are “let’s see what the rookies and training camp players can do” so I won’t have to watch the whole game. The Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire will play their first games ever so that will be exciting.
I have one thing I have to get done before the end of the month and I have to decide if I will do it today or put it off until tomorrow. I am leaning towards “put it off.”
See all y’all later!
Thursday Meese
49 here in Kingston going up to 59 with rain all day

It’s almost painful, seeing what we used to have. How people can choose anger and hate….. Yes, I’m depressed about SCOTUS yesterday. Got here super early and walked 1.86 mi. Wish I was at home and could listen to music.
Wish I could edit. I was thinking about how things were before and just wondering how we got here. The good o!d days when even Republicans wanted people to vote. That’s what I meant about “what we used to have”
I have never been able to find a comment editor that works with the toolbar we have for the bold italic link quote and doesn’t need special code to run which means it won’t work on all browsers. The best was the one that allowed us to preview but it stopped working years ago. :(
I was just so sleepy this morning when I wrote my check in. I woke up at 3, 3:30 and gave up at 3:50. I was downtown by 5:10, which made for an extra long walk. But a super drowsy day.
It’s 47 heading for 68 and sunny at the moment but forecast for cloudy most of the day. Yesterday we generated 15.45 KWHs and the m-t-d at 379 passed 2017’s 376 and there’s even a chance today’s final day in April could get us over 2020’s 388. IF the day’s cloud cover is a lot lighter than the widget predicts. We shall see what we shall see.
Living life with that sick feeling of knowing this was coming, having watched it grow for decades, knowing it will get worse before it gets better. Holding to a certainty that it will get better even as I ache for all the people who will be hurt or killed in the process. Most of them “collateral damage” – the children, the poor, the disabled, anybody not white Cis Xtian Zionist male – because they’re such easy targets.
The chill has moved back in. Had a fire last night and put the quilt back on my bed. Hands, feet, and back are not happy. But maybe I’ll do some baking over the next few days. Summer will bring a long long long stretch of time when I won’t want to even think about turning the oven on. Meanwhile there’s boosting to do. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good day, Meese! It’s a bright Beltane morning, although too cool and windy for my taste. Right now it’s 58 F. going up to 65 F. with 20 mph winds. Tomorrow the full moon will be the first of two full moons in May, and it’s called the “Flower Moon.”
I’m too old to celebrate Beltane in the traditional way, so will spend the morning studying the script. I’m in the matinee at 3 p.m. Two of my team are apparently oblivious to their cues, so I’ll just have to forge ahead without them. I’d approach them about it, except that the director has told us not to do that. Oh, well. We’ll do our best to give the audience a show. That 12-hour cough suppressant works pretty well, so perhaps I won’t disgrace myself by coughing during the matinee.
The good part of today is that Granddaughter is coming for dinner. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
{{{Diana}}} Glad the cough suppressant works, good luck with the matinee, have fun with your granddaughter. And Aji’s people call this one the Sucker Fish Moon. LOL. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
What, you don’t feel like leaping over bonfires?
Good afternoon, meeses! Thursday …
It 91 and mostly cloudy. We are expecting rain but no one here is holding their breaths waiting for it.
I have to say that the Republican Party knows how to do it. They focused like a laser beam on taking over the Supreme Court so that they no longer needed to develop policies that were popular, they could simply disenfranchise everyone who was not a Republican. Mission freaking accomplished.
I did not take my walk today as I was up to my ears in end of month required projects which I did not complete. I will declare tomorrow April 31st and finish in the early morning.
See all y’all later!
Friday Meese. 40 degrees here in Kingston going up to 60.
Puerto Rico
I hope y’all don’t mind my Puerto Rico posts. I made a promise post Hurricane Maria in 2019 I would post something about PR every day.
Back then I said “You don’t have to be Puerto Rican to give a damn about what is happening, right before our eyes, to Puerto Rico.”

Your Puerto Rico posts are an essential part of my news reading day! NO ONE should ever forget what happened to them and then 51% of American voters chose to “re”-elect the paper towel throwing madman. As long as they stay in the news, one day they will get the positive attention then need and deserve.
Thanks Jan
Of course we don’t mind. It’s a good thing to do. Nobody should forget what’s been & being doing to & not being done for Puerto Rico & Puerto Ricans.
Thanks bfitz
My god daughter in GA has started a new account (she’s in the wildfire zone so prayers are being lifted for her)
Good morning, meeses! Friday and May Day …
It is 61 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 82. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The nearly full moon (99.8% illumination, full at 10:23am MST) is beaming in through the upstairs windows from the Southwest, two owls are talking to each other in the wash behind the house and the air smells like recent rain.
I made a point of checking in earlier than usual to leave my May Day celebratory post. Diana, there is a warning in it about leaping the Beltane Fire that I hope you heed. :)
I have a busy day on this day I have declared to be April 31st as I try to complete April projects.
See all y’all later!
Wow, rain. Like, lots of rain. The soil is so thin here we could have flooding. Drought, flood, drought…. Texas. So, hi – happy Friday. I skipped my walk, tried to sleep more. It is somewhat nippy by our standards – 60 is cool for this time of year. Have a good day, everyone!
It’s 48 going to 67 and sunny at the moment. We’ll see how long that lasts. Yesterday we generated 13.15 KWHs and wrapped up April at 392.04 – so we did get over 2020’s 387.97 and are 4th from the bottom rather than the dead last it looked like we were going to be a week or so ago. The highest we’ve ever done in May is 515.59 and the lowest is 370 so our target is somewhere in between. I’m hoping for 500. We shall see what we shall see.
Woke up around 3 am and checked the sky. The as close to full as I’m going to see moon was riding high enough to put moonlight on my pillow. So I opened the curtains and went back to bed. We still have roses. No irises for the 2nd year in a row. As in no blooms. I have the plants. Don’t know what that means. But roses and vinca and pansies are beautiful and there to enjoy. Happy Beltane – Bright Blessings. Off to start my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Saturday Meese. 47 and raining here in Kingston NY going up to 58.
