Week-long Welcomings from Moosylvania: May 10th

Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).

The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.

So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

  1. Well, I just lost whole long post. I hate how I can touch one wrong key and lose everything.

Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s a GLORIOUS day here in Ashburger, no wind, 71 F. right now and going up to 80 F.! Dare I wear Bermuda shorts, despite the fact there’s a bruise on my hind leg? I’m always bumping into something and not noticing at the time.

Enjoyable “long lie” in bed this morning, scrumptious breakfast. I have two summaries to write today. A Drama Club board member wants me to give a presentation (I’ll make it SHORT) about the play, and to show her the summary, character descriptions, and a scene or two of the play I’m about to write. No one is going to like my play, which is about suicide.

Got to get going. Knowing I won’t get my nap before I have to go to the Drama Club meeting, I keep stopping to rest, so I’m behind. Wishing everyone a good day!

  2. Good morning, 47 and raining in our garden today. To my relief the flower arrangements were well received yesterday. The lilies didn’t open as planned, the roses needed the outer petals removed, the peonies opened to soon, and the small white stems were very ripe but the finish result was pleasing. I slept well last night :) Best wishes to all.

  3. Good morning, meeses! Saturday …

It is 81 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 91. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I found the “glitch” in my outdoor thermometer – when the sun is fully up and hitting it directly, it is getting higher readings than the real temperature. So I put up another thermometer in the front which is going to get more of the ambient temperature. When I took my walk, the backyard thermometer was 91 but the front was about 80. It was definitely hot on the return loop but I won’t let the backyard thermometer scare me away from taking my walk! Today the moon will be new at 1:01pm MST. I look forward to the waxing energy as I have a number of projects I want to get done this month.

I will be watching sporting events today and maybe lightly skimming the news. I had an unscheduled mini-project this morning that used all the braining I had available so I am going to declare the rest of the day as a day off and catch up tomorrow when I have the quiet of the early morning again.

    See all y’all later!
