Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

A friend and her daughter are weeding and planting my garden which i can no longer do – nice!
Puerto Rico water troubles continue
Good you have help with the garden Dee. I’m getting used to having help, but it is an adjustment.
I’m not used to having help and want badly to do things
Good morning. Yesterday at kickboxing, I accomplished one of my goals for the year – I got up from the floor! I’ve been not doing floor exercises for so long because I can’t (couldn’t) get up. I had to use the roundhouse station to push/pull up on, but I did it. Not ready to do situps on the floor & get back up on a regular basis, but this was the first step. Anyway, that’s my news. Happy Sunday & Father’s Day.

Beautiful art work
It’s 76 & 99% humidity, heading for 88 heat index 96, and cloudy. Didn’t open the house today. Maybe in the morning. Yesterday we generated 18.08 KWHs and the m-t-d at 289.7 gained a smidge. Which it’s likely to lose today. sigh.
Welp, wherever the water went yesterday morning, it didn’t go inside the ductwork. Or not enough to worry about. There was no standing water in the vent or duct. The wood of the floor around the duct was saturated and there was some evidence that some water had gotten around the vent. But there wasn’t even standing water there and the top of the duct had a layer of dust on it. The only thing the vent guy could think of was that I’d managed to shut of the water faster than I thought I did so there wasn’t as much water sprayed everywhere and most of it stayed in the house. I’m still glad I called him – better to pay $150 for an emergency visit and not need it than thousands for mold abatement.
The kitten is 2 months old, weights 2.4 lbs, and is a girl. No microchip, not on the list of lost cats/kittens at the vet clinic, and the neighbors I’ve talked to haven’t a clue. So I guess I have myself a beautiful gray baby cat. (So we did the full exam & started her on her shots.) She’s exploring right now. Freddie still hisses at her. Bobbie started to bop her on the head a couple of times yesterday but stopped when I yelled at him. A couple of months from now she might be big enough to rough house but not at 2.4 lbs.
Managed to vacuum this morning, which is why I’m a little later than I have been lately. Definitely not before time. But now I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Bfitz, I love your cat stories! I hope you name the new kitten “Princess.” I grey tabby offered to adopt me once but I just didn’t have the time or energy then. Have always regretted it. Glad the water situation seems to be under control.
Good Sunday morning, Moosekind! My plans are to work before and after the buffet Father’s Day brunch. Right now I feel tired after enjoying my second cup of coffee. As a rule, I don’t have time to drink the second cup. I will remember my father today and the priceless gifts he gave me: an abiding love of English literature and deep reverence for the marvelously expressive English language.
It “s kind of a “blah” day in Ashburn—sunny but a little breezy. The high will be 87 F. A delicious breakfast, which included fresh strawberries, has been had, and now I want to rest my back. It doesn’t seem to like it when I’ve been vertical for a couple of hours.
Have a lovely, restful day, all at the Pond!
Good afternoon, 66 and sunny in Bellingham today. Ron and I baked a rhubarb strawberry pie and a rhubarb custard pie this morning and now we’re going to a Dad’s Day barbeque at Erich’s house. Best wishes to all.
Good morning. I skipped walking, but I packed a gym bag. Gonna try 30 minutes on the elliptical after work. Only news here is the heat. Have as good a day as Monday can be.
Glad you mentioned Monday I am still in Sunday
It’s 68 heading for 80 heat index 85 overcast and raining at the moment. The rain’s supposed to stop in another hour but the clouds aren’t going anywhere. sigh. Yesterday we generated 12.12 KWHs and the m-t-d at 301.82 lost more ground. And will lose more today although the rain is welcome.
The kitten seems to be OK with being Jenny Gray. Cloud’s ignoring her. That could be discomfort. He goes in for his OA injection today and he’s been pulling at his fur again so I’ve got him back on the gabapentin. Bobbie and Freddie are both still sniffing at her. But whereas Bobbie is sniffing and walking off (and even groomed her once) Freddie is making “I don’t like this thing” noises. Not attack noises or anything like that, but he’s going to be the one who needs the most attention to make up for there being a baby in the house. New cats are expensive. So are old cats. But they’re worth it.
I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
bfitz, I’m sure that word has gone out in the catmosphere to go to the house of the Caring Human: “She will help you.”
It’s nice to be loved.
Good Monday morning, Moosekind. It’s 82 F. in Ashburger today, with thunderstorms predicted at 2 p.m.
Nora was supposed to come over to glue my false eyelashes on, but if the weather is dangerous, I don/t want her to come.
This morning I woke up with a nosebleed, which has not happened in years. After I took care of that, I made blueberry muffins. I felt so frail this morning I rested in a chair after breakfast. We’ll see how it goes. I meant to get so much accomplished today!
Wishing all at the Pond a good day!
Good afternoon, 63 and sunny in Bellingham. We had lots of fun yesterday so today I’m restlessly resting. We’re cooking a solstice dinner later and will eat outside and light the candles in remembrance of our Heidi, our dog who passed 4 yrs ago today. Elsa, has filled our lives with doggie fun and love but memories of Heide will always be with us. Best wishes to all.
Good evening, meeses! Monday …
It is 100 degrees at 6pm after getting to 108 this afternoon.
My day started with cleaning up a big Microsoft mess left over from the weekend which I got mostly done but it stretched into the afternoon. I had three errands I needed to run and got them all done so that is good. Tomorrow I do not have any plans to go anywhere and I am hoping it stays that way! I have two things to do at my desk tomorrow and I am determined to get them done.
See all y’all tomorrow!
