Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

It’s 60 heading for 74 and, amazingly, sunny at the moment although the widget says rain in a few hours. Yesterday it cleared off in late afternoon and we generated 6.89 KWHs. The m-t-d at 314.16 lost more ground. But it stayed clear and I actually saw the moon last night! Moonlight was shining through my bedroom west window from the time I turned out the lights until she dropped below the treeline on the horizon.
I don’t know exactly when basket will get here. His plane is due in at KCI in about 3 hours. Then he has to get his luggage and get the rental car. It’s a 5-hour drive from KCI to my house. At least it was for me. So I’m guessing the “window” is between 4 and 6 this afternoon/evening. Lang had originally planned to bring a pizza (his store doesn’t make GF pizzas even if it were open in the summer but he knows good & safe places to get them) and join us but his pre-exam exam was rescheduled for today. From 4 to 6 of course (so that means he’ll probably be tied up from 3 to 8). He’s sending us a pizza for dinner and hopes to visit for a short time tomorrow when he brings groceries and maybe join us for lunch Tuesday at Ohana’s if that works out.
Anyway, I’ve a bunch of stuff to do to get my bedroom ready for basket’s occupancy. 😁 But that’ll be later in the day. Right now I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good morning, meeses! Saturday …
It is 64 degrees in Tucson 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 90. Sunny skies are in the forecast. I saw the moon last night high in the WNW skies. It takes an effort to find her when she is on that side of the house but well worth the time.
I got word that my new recliner is ready to deliver and I will get it next week. I had the same dilemma that princesspat had – my nice chair with an ottoman was not going to cut it for afternoon naps, I needed a full on recliner. I did not have room for one where we were before but I have an abundance of space here so I spent my daughter’s inheritance on one! I set up a little table with a built-in lamp and charging station and I will have a place to read and nap on the main floor. I will leave the old chair in the family room for TV watching.
I have a stack of scraps of paper and notes from a too busy April and May that I made some progress on sorting. I will finish that and then create my List of Three’s which are the three most important things to get done today. My full list is a list of literally hundreds of things and is too overwhelming to even look at so I try to create a short doable list each day and work from that.
See all y’all later!
Good Saturday morning, Meese! It’s 51 F. here in Ash-no-longer-quite-so-Burned, cold, gray, gloomy. I keep opening the door every quarter of an hour or so, to listen to the sound of falling rain. Love the sight of rain streaks on the screens of the porch. It’s just a steady drumbeat of rain all day and all night.
We need this. I’m not saying we needed it on a holiday weekend, but it’s been so long since we’ve had a steady, soaking rain that I’ll take what we can get. Dinner with a good friend and a movie tonight, work until then. Feeling a lot better than I did yesterday.
Hoping Dee gets through that PET scan okay. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
I was just reading about how the El Niño will impact Southern Arizona this summer. They are saying it will be a “Super” El Niño which will bring water that will cause flooding. The water will be welcome but the sad state of long-time drought ridden soil is that it does not soak in the water, it is like concrete and runs off. Maybe we will get enough rain that will eventually soak in and will alleviate the drought and fill the aquifers. I am glad that I live at 2900 ft but sad for those who will have to drive in torrential downpours.
