Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?

NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 64 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 88. Sunny skies are in the forecast.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Sunday Meese 62 here in Kingston.
Good morning. I did kickboxing yesterday, trying to gently loosen up my stiff back. Also went to Planet Fitness, they are letting regular members use the chair massages this month, and it is actually good. So I feel a little better, going to go again this afternoon. Meanwhile, tea is steeping and I’ve got my berries thawing for next week’s breakfast.
Good that you can use the massage chairs & your back is doing better. More Healing Energy. {{{anotherdemocrat}}}
It’s 73 heading for 83 and sunny at the moment but clouds are in the forecast and in the western sky. Yesterday we generated 17.76 KWHs and the m-t-d at 265.39 is not on track. And is not likely to get back on track if the forecast holds. sigh.
I need to go close up the house before it gets any warmer. And hope it works out I don’t need to turn on the A/C (which I set at 78) today and tomorrow. We get several days cool spell starting Tuesday. Once the house is closed up I’ll be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Energy for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}

Good Sunday morning, Moosekind! Not much to say today. It’s an ugly grey day in Ashburn, 74 F. Looks as if it wants to rain but it probably won’t.
After I finish my coffee I’ll do something. Bought some “miracle tooth powder” that is supposed to make one’s teeth really white, and it’s powdered charcoal! Wonder if it really will make my teeth white. Oh, well, back to a lazy day. Younger Son invited me to tea at his house, so I’ll have to toddle over there by 4 p.m.
Taj Mahal the racehorse came in a disappointing 10th, I believe, at the Preakness Stakes. The horses were so beautiful yesterday.
Going to drink some more coffee and decided what to do with my day. Younger Son invited me to tea, so I’ll have to leave here at 3:30 or so to get there on time.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
OOPS – For tomorrow
Tuesday Meese
Celebrating two birthdays today
Lorraine Hansberry and Malcom K
Need an edit button – today is Monday LOL
Don’t you have one? I thought you, as an editor, did have one? Let me check the settings.
Good morning. Having a hard time getting started today. Did my walk, talking myself out of leaving work and going back to bed. Yesterday there was a random shooting incident, 2 teens with guns and multiple stolen cars. Several people hurt, one is life-threatening. When I was at the gym, I kept getting “shelter in p!ace” notifications, but it was way over on the other side of town. So I did my 12 minute weight workout and sat in the massage chair for 10.
Already 78 heading for 84 & overcast. Widget says the clouds will move off by noon. Hope so. Yesterday we generated 10.73 KWHs and the m-t-d at 276.12 lost more ground. sigh.
Already closed up the house. I haven’t actually turned on the A/C but I’ve set the thermostat for 78 instead of my winter/heating 64. It’s 74 down the hall where the thermostat is and 77 in here/den where I work (yes, all this online boosting I do is work even though my only pay is the happiness when someone actually gets some help). If we can just make it through until tomorrow without actually turning the A/C on. . . Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 74 – but even more important the overnights will be in the low 60s so we’ll be able to cool the house just by opening windows.
I haven’t had contact with many people but so far everybody, including myself, seems to be having an off kilter if not flat out bad day. Nothing major for me – things like spilling stuff, putting the wrong amount of oatmeal on to cook, and irritating ache in my right upper back – but still not a good morning so far. Nevertheless I’d best be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Monday morning, Moosekind! It’s a lovely day, 78 F. already and—dare I say it—going up to 85 F.! Makes a pleasant change. Actually slept well last night with no leg cramps.
Had a nice tea with Younger Son, DIL, and the tall, handsome, about-to-turn 12-year-old yesterday afternoon. Gave him the Kids’ Encyclopedia (a fascinating, if rather heavy, book) and a Benjamin Franklin. He knows what he wants, I don’t. Must run, Moosekind, the UUs are having a Covenant meeting at 10 and I’m neither washed nor brushed.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond.
Good morning, 54 and partly sunny. Another slow and sleepy morning, wondering activity what my joints will tolerate today. This arthritis flare is challenging my coping skills. Oh well, life goes on regardless and I’m grateful to still have choices. Best wishes to all.
Good afternoon, meeses! Monday …
It is 86 degrees and sunny. It has been lovely all day and we had the doors open to bring cool air into the house. We finally shut down about an hour ago to keep the cool in and let the a/c work on making it comfortable to sleep tonight. We will have a few more days with highs in the upper 80s then we start seeing the low 90s again.
Tonight the thin waxing crescent moon and Venus will be in conjunction in the WNW sky. I don’t have a very good WNW view from indoors so I may have to venture outside and hope I can avoid the javelinas that have been roaming the neighborhood lately.
Tonight I will watch the Washington Mystics play at the Dallas Wings and see how the Wings team reacts to their coach calling them selfish and creating an unfortunate narrative that will make it difficult to ignore. Obviously he thinks he is still coaching 18 and 19 year olds who he can badger instead of grown women who have been playing their sport professionally for years. I predict a mass exodus of players next year if the owners don’t rein him in.
I had a very productive day after a day yesterday spent trying to undo a poor decision related to my Internet infrastructure. I was able to organize a plan forward that should work – I will find out tomorrow morning.
See all y’all later!
Well, duh. I have a WNW view from the back yard so I will be safely away from the javelinas if I go outside when it starts getting dark. Moonset is 10:02pm MST and sunset is 7:16pm so I should have a pretty clear view for a few hours.
Tuesday Meese. We have a heat advisory here. Gonna be 94 :(
Puerto Ricans
Today is not just Malcolm X’s birthday
Also we are celebrating Yuri Kochiyama – she mentored many of us young folks and Malcolm died in her arms
Disturbing
Bastids.
Good morning. Will log off from work early this afternoon to go to the gym and vote in the runoff. All the attention is on the acrimonious and expensive Republican senate contest (the nastiness is popcorn worthy) but we have races for Attorney General, the Education Board and my State Rep district. Meanwhile: work.
I was driving around today and it is depressing seeing all the election signs on the corners again, especially for the loathsome Juan Ciscomani who voted to kick people off Medicaid and Food Stamps, literally starving people and letting them die of curable diseases. :(
Already had our high for the day – 78 just after midnight – 75 at the moment and drifting down amid lots of clouds and some rain. Yesterday we generated 12.83 KWHs and the m-t-d at 288.95 lost more ground.
Natalia did “work from home” yesterday but what she mostly did as far as office work is concerned was to check in regularly to see if there was anything that needed addressing – her real work was rage cleaning the house. Not totally cleaned but definitely looks a lot better with months, in some places years, worth of dust bunnies and cat fluff removed. It’ll actually be safe (for my breathing) to sleep on the sofa bed this long weekend while basket’s here. (He’s visiting for several days, setting up a new laptop for me, then going to MO for the Scott Joplin Festival.) Luckily he’s got cats so won’t be surprised at a light layer of cat fluff that will probably have accumulated by the time he gets here Saturday afternoon.
I look at what’s going on in the world and just have to remind myself that 1) I can’t do anything about it & 2) I’m OK right now. And boost people who aren’t. Which I’d best be about doing. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Good Tuesday morning, Meese! It’s 90 F. at 11:48 a.m. Went to bed full of good intentions, but had the night from hell. Coughed, tossed, and turned all night long. Was there a disturbance in the force, or a sudden infusion of pollen? At any rate, I feel like a just-exhumed vampire. Went back to bed for a rest, just got up and had some tea.
Anyway, received some good news yesterday. The insurance check from United Airlines came through. Dearly was so anxious about it: he kept saying, “Now, don’t forget to call United after I’m gone and claim that money.” It took six months, but there it is. I’m off to deposit it.
I need to work this afternoon before I go to dinner and a concert with a friend. Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
Good afternoon, 56 and cloudy outside my windows today. I was finally able to put all the pots and gardening stuff away yesterday so my knees are demanding a day off. My potting bench is old, but it is a well used treasure from The Lot of Flowers former garden shop site so it has sentimental memories for me. My son rebuilt it several weeks ago and the contents were scattered about, but now everything is sorted, donated, and put away. So now I have a place to work again…..simple and tidy as needed for my gardening while 80ish time of life. Later this afternoon I hope to find a replacement for the yew tree growing in a pot by the back porch. The roots got to wet this winter and yew trees take a fatal dislike to that so I’ll try to find something else to grow in it’s place. Son #2 makes things so he will use the yew wood to make arrows for his bow and arrow collection. Nice the wood will be used, even nicer that he will dispose of the tree for me! Best wishes to all.
Sounds like a busy and productive day!
