Welcome to The Moose Pond! The Welcomings posts give the Moose, old and new, a place to visit and share words about the weather, life, the world at large and the small parts of Moosylvania that we each inhabit.

Welcomings will be posted at the start of each week (usually Saturday night with a Sunday date). To find the posts, just bookmark this link and Voila! (which is Moose for “I found everyone!!”).
The format is simple: each day, the first moose to arrive on-line will post a comment welcoming the new day and complaining (or bragging!) about their weather. Or mentioning an interesting or thought provoking news item. Or simply checking in.
So … what’s going on in your part of Moosylvania?
…
NOTE: The comments page will split off after 20 or so left margin comments with the most recent comments on the current page. To see the older comments, scroll to the bottom of the page (right before “Leave A Reply”) and use the Pages Tool to view previous pages, shown here with 3 pages of comments available and Page 2 circled.

Good “morning”, Motley Meese! The week begins …
Morning low of 63 degrees in the Desert Southwest 🌵 with an expected daytime high of 91. Sunny skies are in the forecast. The Blue Moon arrived on May 31, 2026, 1:45 am MST.
Have a great day, all y’alls!!
Sunday Meese. 44 here in Kingston going up to 74.
Good morning. Did a lot of cooking yesterday, more preparing for the work week today. Meanwhile, relaxing & watching local news.
Posted
At the library again – it’s hot, heat index is going to get close to 100 today – and totally pissed off at myself. I left my mouse at home so I’m very slowly trying to get stuff done using the mouse pad. I truly am not sure I can cut and paste things to boost things. I can RT, but QT may be an issue. sigh. Library’s not actually open, I’m in the coffee shop. Hoping when it does open they’ll have a mouse I can borrow. Meanwhile I’m off to do what I can before I need to scoot home to be there when basket gets there. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody {{{Meeses}}}
Monday Meese. Heading out for a doc appointment this morning early
Remembering:
Good morning. Did my walk. Monday. Blergh. I shouldn’t complain, I have a job, only the one (besides the surveys thing) and it’s indoors, in air conditioning and I get to sit down. I could be in construction or retail. Okay, I’ll sit here and get ready for work.
Good Monday morning, Moosekind! I did remember to utter the word “Rabbit!” when I woke up. It’s going to be 80 F. today, perfect weather all week until Saturday. It’s 71 F. and beautifully sunny in Ashburn at 10 a.m.
Had a very smooth trip to Columbus and back. Kind United agents showed me how to get a boarding pass from a machine. Things have totally changed since I last flew 7 years ago. Columbus was very green, charming, and I liked it very much. I saw the Moon there, but could not see her last night.
My grandson lives in an old-fashioned, turn of the 20th century neighborhood with the street that runs past it paved with bricks in a herringbone pattern! Have never seen that before. Met two of his cats, but the dog was away.
M’Daughter, who seems to have inherited some of my writing ability, wrote this, and I can’t improve on it:
“They’re married!!! We had perfect weather, a Blue Moon, a wildflower farm, the deepest, most heartfelt/spiritual vows I’ve ever heard; dozens of friends from myriad states; a beautiful bride and groom. No detail was left out. I might be biased but this was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever attended. Congratulations, James & Katie!!!”
The wedding was indeed spectacular. It’s been two years in the planning and it showed: every detail was perfect. Although the happy couple are not Pagan, I thought the wedding was very Pagan in feeling, as it was in a wildflower meadow and wildflowers were used for the bouquets in the dining area and for the wedding party. The couple made the most heartfelt vows I’ve ever heard, and they wrote them themselves. Yrs truly is so clueless that at first I thought the twiglike hollow spheres hanging on the wedding tree were abandoned hornets’ nests, until I realized they were decorations. As the shadows lengthened little twinkling lights came on. This just shows you I don’t get out much.
So now I’m back, ready to plunge into the usual round of daily life. There’s a concert on the lawn this afternoon from 3 to 4. The Elvis impersonator will be here. I must try to find a huge umbrefuge to shelter from the sun. Then I’m having dinner with a fellow actor.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond!
The wedding location sounds wonderful. I am glad they had good weather – outdoor events this time of year can be hit or miss.
I’M BACK ONLINE! Turns out it was a break in the line about 2 doors down, just beyond the point where my individual line separated out from the main. Such a relief. I’ll have to catch up later on PV production and goals as the techbros are playing with the data-reporting site. But I know we go over 400 for May and it would be really nice to get over 500 for June.
Had a lovely visit with basket. He’s on his way to KCI for the 1st leg of his trip home. He’s somewhere across the MO line at this point. Now I need to be about my boosting day. I’ve a whole lot of stuff to catch up on, although I did as much as I could from the library these last few days. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
Hurray for being back on line, bfitz! Please tell basket I said hello and give him a hug from me!
Good news
Good afternoon, meeses! Monday…
The backyard says 102 degrees, the front yard says 98 and my phone weather widget says 93. It is definitely hot with the sun shining and no cloud cover. I am still seeing my fullish moon in the early morning.
Today I ran errands that had stacked up over the weekend. I prefer to stay home on weekends and do my errands during the week when it is just we little old ladies.
I watched a lot of WNBA basketball over the past few days. The evil empire Las Vegas Aces lost one and won one but the racist enabling Indiana Fever lost two, one by an impressive margin at the hands of the Portland Fire, one of the expansion teams. The Fire is a feisty team and I am enjoying watching them. One of the players who had a great game said this:
“We’re a bunch of overlooked players, and I think we all have a chip on our shoulder,” Megan Gustafson said per ESPN. “I’ve never really been respected as a basketball player until I’ve gotten here, so I’m really thankful for this team, this organization. They really believe in me.”
I am so glad to hear that! Gustafson played for Iowa and I’m sure it irritates her no end that people think that Iowa didn’t exist until Caitlin Clark played there.
There are two games tonight and I will watch the early one.
See all y’all later!
“racist enabling Indiana Fever” love that
They will be visiting New York this weekend for a must watch game! I wonder how the Fever feels about letting Natasha Howard leave. The fans were “uncomfortable” because she was too Black and too Gay. She was also a major disruptive defensive force.
Tuesday Meese. Gonna be warm today here in Kingston. Doc is putting me back on Chemo since cancer has advanced. :(
Oh, that’s hard luck, Sis! Prayers going up for you.
{{{Denise}}} Holding you in The Light and in my heart. Healing Energy. Moar {{{HUGS}}}
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear that. :(
Also, too: fk cancer.
Sending healing thoughts Dee. I hope more chemo will not be to harsh yet will do it’s job for you.
Thank you. My last round of chemo had no ill effects except it straightened my hair so I no longer have an afro :)
Oh, no! I’m so sorry to hear that, sending all good healing thoughts.
Good morning. I actually slept well last night, miracle of miracles. Planning a workout this afternoon. But first, work.
Good Tuesday morning, Meese1 It’s gorgeous here in Ashburn this morning. I noticed when I went for a walk yesterday that the trees that were half-dead early in May looked full, fresh, and green after our 10 days of rain. We might have thunderstorms on Sunday. Well, that’s typical for June.
I hope to attend the Balance and Strength class this morning and to go for a walk with my BFF this afternoon. Other than that, not much is happening.
Wishing a good day to all at the Pond and prayers for our Denise.
Thank you
It’s 73 and foggy to the west but the sun is shining nicely to the east. “Only” going up to 83 with a heat index of 90 today. We finished out May with 439.37 KWHs so while not great definitely not bad. June so far has a lowest of 358.46 and a highest of 575.63 so our miracle goal is 576, our at least goal is 359, and our realistic goal is anything over 500. Yesterday we generated 19.89 which is actually on track to bust the miracle goal. LOL.
A few hours after the AT&T tech left an AT&T salesman showed up. Saying the tech guy “forgot” to get/give my security information. What he wanted was to sell me upgrade at no additional cost/save me money to get me off a wired system altogether. He said the wireless router of AT&T Air would work with my PV inverter just fine and that AT&T has flip phones that have sound quality at good as my voip. Sounded very convincing. I had him write down what he was “recommending”, took his card – and called my son. Who basically got off AT&T years ago and thinks I should too. The saving money part of the pitch was derived by comparing base cost for the new stuff with the after taxes & fees of my current bill. Lang and I both doubt the wireless router will work with my PV inverter (which is why I got a home internet/a router in the first place). And AT&T’s flip phone is a Smart phone that folds in half. It’s still a touchscreen no buttons chunk of equipment. So I’m not calling the gentleman back. And I’ll think about moving to Cox if my phone number really can port to them. sigh.
Something was going on to make basket’s flight not happen so he spent the night in KC – by now he should be on a plane to Denver (a re-route from the original KCI to Chicago to San Francisco to Sacramento) and home. It was lovely having him here. Hopefully he’ll visit again next year when the Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia MO happens.
Meanwhile I still have some stuff to do that I didn’t do while I was working out of the library and need to be about my boosting day. Holding the Good/Healing/Protecting Thought for everybody. {{{Meeses}}}
My advice from decades of dealing with Internet Service Providers, going back to dial-up modems, is to stay away from wireless only Internet, stick with wired. Wired will always be faster and more reliable. I have VOIP for my business line and all phone carriers have to honor your phone number transfer request. I had to move my toll free number last year and I was shocked to discover it only took 3 days. It used to take 30 days.
I am on Xfinity which is Comcast and they have a good deal right now.
That’s kind of what I thought (re: wireless only internet). I’ll check out Xfinity when I check out Cox. Thanks.
Well. Interesting. I’ve now been banned at Bluesky. Apparently boosting folks in need & small businesses is dangerous. The message/email says “Your activity was classified as a Critical Violation — behavior that is illegal, poses imminent harm, or accounts dedicated to violating our guidelines. These violations result in immediate and permanent account removal. You will no longer be able to access this account.” I’ve appealed. This is what I said. “Because boosting people in need is not spam, scams, or disruptive to conversations as I’m not replying to any conversations. I am doing my best, as I always have, to support the members of the community, whether small businesses or people in need.”
So I guess I’m back at Xitter. And I really can’t remember my MA thread wording (which was actually copied from Aji’s original wording when she created the HelpFolksLive hashtag) to recreate it over there. But I’m doing my best. Meanwhile the sky got suddenly dark and the wind is up. An omen?
Is it possible that some of the accounts you are boosting are involved in scams either on purpose or inadvertently? I am always cautious about likes and reposts unless I know the poster. In the world of social media, being attached to a post that goes viral in the wrong way can be extremely disruptive.
Possible but unlikely. I get a lot of repeats in my Mutual Aid thread. True that I don’t verify them. What I do is write a thumbnail of what they need & why as a quote post of their original (the one that has the pay links in it – I don’t put their pay links in my post). Somebody got tire of seeing me & instead of just blocking me, they reported me, is all I can think of.
Sorry to hear that.
I saw a couple of weird things about bans yesterday, so maybe contact them again. Like, they banned the “endless scream” bot. It was reinstated. So, maybe your appeal will also work.
I hope so. I know 20 to 40 people I boost everyday isn’t even a drop in the bucket of need – but I worry about those folks. Thanks.
Good morning, meeses! Tuesday …
It is in the mid 90s and sunny. I got my walk in before it hit 90 but it was a short one. We are at the point already where the bedtime temperatures are in the upper 80s and soon the morning lows will be in the 80s also. The weather guessers are saying that the monsoon will be wetter this year and combined with the El Nino will bring lots of rain. I am looking forward to it! The monsoon rains bring temporary cooling which is very refreshing. June 15th is the expected start of the monsoon.
I am ignoring the news because it is filled with horse race news on the midterms. There are no polls that are realistic 5 months out even if we trusted the Supreme Court to not further ratfk the elections. If they allow the Republicans to use their power over the USPS to cancel mail-in voting, I am not sure which party it will hurt more but I don’t want to find out.
I have one lingering project from May that I need to finish and two things due tomorrow. I have to decide if I can afford to take another day off or if I will be angry with myself tomorrow morning if I do.
See all y’all later!
Good afternoon, 60 and sunny in Bellingham today. Sorry to be absent again….I’ve got a difficult dental situation happening so I’ve been overwhelmed with pain and misery. The nasty tooth was pulled yesterday and I’ve got pain meds and antibiotics so things are better today. My tooth was irritable for the last few weeks, but on Friday the infection just blew up. My dentist’s office was closed but fortunately the oral surgeon ordered the meds and worked me into his busy schedule. The stitches are annoying but the pain and swelling is easing so the worst is over. I’ll decide what to do about the missing tooth later this summer when we know all the infection is gone. But if I can manage without the tooth I’ll just do so. So no planting flowers for me today…just fluids, a soft diet and rest. Best wishes to all.

Oh, princesspat! {{{princesspat}}} Lots of love and white light to you! Prayers going up for you also.

Josephine Baker, ooh! Would you actually believe that I NEVER HEARD OF HER until my French hairdresser (who was living in this country) told me about her? I rushed to the library and checked out her bio. I didn’t know anything about Paul Robeson either. It’s a freaking disgrace the way they don’t teach Black history in our schools.
